Hello i have a 2ds with a broken screen and i recently got a new 3ds i would like to know if there is a way to transfer my save data from the broken one to the new one
both models are homebrewed
This depends. You will need to have some
things.
1. Savemanager(s)
This is the easiest way. If you made a decrypted backup of your saves with JKSM and/or Checkpoint, restoring is easy: Copy the folder(s) of the savemanager(s) to the N3DS micro-SD, start a savemanager and restore.
If the 2DS does boot normally, save managers can still be used to make backups – depending on how bad the screen is damaged – blind.
2. Decrypt the saves with movable.sed
You need the file
[1:]SYSNAND CTRNAND/private/movable.sed from the NAND of your 2DS to access the encrypted saves.
You can get the file from a NAND-backup with
fuse-3ds. Setting this up takes a while. With fuse-3ds you can also decrypt the saves from the “Nintendo 3DS” folder on the SD from the 2DS.
In case the 2DS still turns on normally you can also copy the file with GodMode9 – in the worst case blind.
3. Install a new screen to make the 2DS fully usable followed by method 1.
This only makes sense if you are sure there is no other damage preventing the 2DS from functioning. I’m assuming you have an O2DS, not a N2DSXL. Repairing the N2DSXL is difficult, especially the top screen is a
PAIN.
