There is a method to install something even without PriiLoader working, it's called SaveMiiFrii and involves the use of a Gamecube controller. Still can't get over the fact that PriiLoader isn't working though, I don't see a reason why it wouldn't boot. Retry for effect, it has to boot.

Yep... I'm afraid you did that. PriiLoader's tied to the System Menu and it's gone now... The only other recovery method I can think of now is using SaveMiiFrii and a game disc to force a firmware installation. Does your Wii have Gamecube controller ports and do you have a Gamecube controller handy?

He was on 4.3 already.

Oooooh... :hateit:

Uhm... erm... ohneswanzenegger and using an Infectus modchip or another NAND flasher? That's the only solution that comes to mind at this point, the Wii's really screwed... I remember another thread where a nand.bin was successfuly flashed that way, but I think the user had a backup nand.bin - I'll have to look for that. Damn, should've recommended making a NAND backup before the system keeled over. :(

My info may be incorrect but could it be a banner or mail brick, has anyone suggested trying maintenance mode? and if its a banner brick only thing I can think of is installing a modchip and setting a backup copy of a exploit title to autoboot via recovery mode. does any of this sound doable

He has to have either keys.bin or nand.bin

Try holding + and - for several seconds when the Health Screen comes up and loads Maintenance Mode.

Pretty sure he can dump nand.bin using Infectus, he doesn't have to do it via BootMii.
You don't get the keys via Infectus. BootMii appends them to the beginning (or end, I can't remember) of nand.bin.

Anyway, it might be a mailbox brick. If it is, then it's not beyond saving.

Crazy idea on my end, but did the system come with an SD card, Jimlarck? If it did, perhaps you already have a nand.bin backup that you don't know about?

Maybe ask your friend what he attempted to do with it b4 giving to you? (And ask him if he backed up the nand)

Wow. I never new a Wii could be bricked, the only happening of that I have encountered of a GAME being bricked is Pokemon X on 3DS but I would suggest getting a new copy of the game that had been bricked as the ways of recovering it are severely complicated. :O

It's not the game that's bricked.

When you go into hacking a Nintendo Wii, what you're essentially doing is changing all of the file system to work in a way that it wasn't intended to. The methods are completely safe IF you're competent and know exactly what you're doing.

In this case, the Wii had it's software modified, and somewhere along the line something went wrong causing what I'm gonna call a 'semi' brick, because it was still salvageable because it had Priiloader installed and the Homebrew channel was functioning. Priloader is an application that can be loaded prior to anything else on the Wii if you turn the Wii on when holding the reset button. It's installed and tied to the system menu IOS of the Wii console. If you load the homebrewchannel through priloader and it works then you can fix anything essentially (more or less) hahaha

Since the system menu wouldn't load correctly, and priloader said that there was an error with the IOS, this guy attempted to install a new system menu IOS to fix it. Unfortunately he dived in at the deep end when he did that, overwriting priloader before installing any of the other necessary IOS needed I'm guessing... So from there he's stuck because priloader will no longer load up haha

Just curious, what are you talking about pokemon XY brick? If it's what I'm thinking of (The odd save glitch) then it's not a brick, it's just a game breaking glitch which could be overcome by various methods anyways.

NB: If that's hard to understand, i had about 2 minutes to explain it, I need more time to explain that crap to people that aren't in the know! Plus I'm crap at explaining anyways... I'm gonna shut up now.
