The demo will be available on the Eur eshop on Feb 11th (I think that was the date I had in an email from Nintendo)... can't you just wait a couple of weeks?
tbh, I didn't even know they were sending out download codes - I've not had one, and I'm subscribed to their newsletter emails etc.
(I thought I'd leave the info in about the Pokemon VC releases too
