Bored of PS5

Ive dutifully been waiting on Firmware version 4.03, but im getting really bored with it.

I still enjoy collecting games, but any of my recent purchases either dont install at all, or have day 1 patches that need a higher firmware.

My only options are to just let it sit unused and play something on other platforms or to update.

Buying a second PS5 just isnt doable for me. (because of the cost and increased EMF of having a second unit)

Luckily was able to get a second Unit with 3.20 on it but yes I decided to update my og PS5 since you really need online for it atm.

If they could crack it wide open like the switch or ps3 I’m in, if it’s like ps4 where it’s mostly piracy (and it’s also a pain to use the exploit) then never mind.

the ps4 is likely how it will be. it has even more security than its predecessor.

I know, i will.
I cant pass up homebrew, no matter how much i would love to update my games.

The infinite promise homebrew apps and plugins bring is just too alluring.

I own 4x PS3s, a PS4 Slim 9.00, and a PS4 Pro 9.00. Guess which one I'm using the most these days? PS3 because of the games it has.

It's still good for YouTube despite the UI being a bit slow. Great to watch any region Blu-ray/DVD, except I have no desire for that now since Sony kept forcing users to update the console *just* to watch a BD and that killed it for me.

Yeah, it's more and more restrictive with each new generation of consoles from cfw or simple ways to do everything.

I only hacked the PS3 for the first time in 2018 but doesn't that go for all PSs since the PSP, I mean, having to wait for a newer OFW to be jailbroken in order to play the latest games?

But it wasn't needed to wait for a newer PSP/PS3/PS Vita OFW to be jailbroken in order to play the latest games.

I remember my PS3 Slim having 3.55 and I stupidly updated as I prioritized online play over homebrew. Turns out I didn't play online much.

When I bought my Xbox 360, it got even less use as I bought XBLA games when on offer and retail ones. Sonic 4 Episode 1 & 2 weren't very good, but as a Sonic fan I still enjoyed them (especially Episode 2 although not as good as the Android port).

Speaking of Sonic 4, Episode 1 on Windows Phone was more of a DS hybrid game. That's honestly awesome. Gotta see about using a WP emulator to play that version.

2010 was mostly psjailbreak dongles, which was a heap overflow in the usb code
fail0verflow showed on 29th december how linux could be run on any system due to sony messing up the signing and allowing the private key to be factored. They didn't publish the key.

Geohotz published the metldr key in 2011 and made the first CFW that allowed PKG to be installed. But you were stuck on an old version, 3.55 I think.

It wasn't until 2012 that the lv0 root keys were extracted and you could be up to date with latest FW releases.

Just update its not worth not using it even theirs a chance of CFW in a couple years and just have some savings so you can buy a 2ND PS5 in a couple months also electro magnetic fields will not hurt you don't be daft

if you're worrying about emf you already have tons of electronics and your cell phone and router giving it off lmfao. Better yell at your local hams or hams across europe and your local radio stations too hahaha.
