bootmii and priiloader

Hello everyone, I would like to know if it is really necessary to have the bootmii to installed the WiiGSC when I already have the priiloader installed. this might sound silly but i'm new to wii modding and i don't know this technical stuff

IIRC Bootmii is needed to install the HBC, so it is necessary.

It's also an easy way to undo any issues, especially if you have Bootmii as Boot2 (which runs before Priiloader).

If you don't have one, I'd advise making a Bootmii backup and keeping a copy of this safe somewhere.

If u have only priiloader u can recover from the type of potential bannerbricks from installing bad channels.

There's no good reason not to have both priiloader and bootmii installed simultaneously (this is definitely what is recommended), but in this scenario bootmii ios alone would not allow u to recover, Bootmii boot2 in isolation would allow u to recover, as would priiloader in isolation.

It's worth noting that if u download a wad off the internet, it's possible (albeit unlikely) someone could maliciously rename a wad something seemingly harmless that could brick you. For example, if someone were to rename a stub system menu IOS wad and u install it thinking its something else, it could brick. That being said, if u use some yawmm mod as your wad manager it would detect the danger and prevent u from doing this in this particular example.

Also worth noting that sometimes ppl uninstall priiloader by accident when installing a new system menu, so if u don't know what you're doing and you're messing around u could lose priiloader and not notice, then install a bad wad, try to access priiloader only to learn it's no longer there

i know this ,but i dont have an sd card to put bootmii,so i cant use it,thats why i am asking,does the priiloader alone already "protects" the sistem in some way?

So long as u don't mess with your system menu, system menu IOS, or otherwise uninstall priiloader, u can recover from just about everything else with just priiloader

Edit: priiloader also protects against theme bricks, so long as u install custom system menu theme files (csm's) and not themed system menu wads (because the latter will also uninstall priiloader)
