Hacking Bootmii and MH3 ban?

Can restoring a Bootmii nand backup cause you to get banned on Monster Hunter 3?

..Why would it? AFAIK all they check for is items you can't have yet at your Hunter Rank.

I was wondering because I wasn't sure if it counted as altering you save file.

They check for more than that as changing your name (but nothing else) can apparently trigger a ban so there have to be more checks going on.
