Does the booktype need to be set to dvd-rom for the backup loader to read it? Anyone have any info on changing the booktype for a HL-DT-ST_DVDRAM_GSA-T20N WP03 ?
Doesn't seem to want to.

If you have a DVD+R then yes but if you have DVD-R then no and i dont know anything about your drive

Use Nero, or ImgBurn, but ImgBurn doesn't let you change the book type unless your drive is BenQ, LiteOn, Samsung, Plextor, Ricoh, NEC or Nu Tech...!!!

i have an LG drive and i CAN NOT change my booktype, maybe its coz im using a lite version or something..

just buy DVD-R and save yourself some headaches

Sometimes, flashing your DVD burner with a custom firmware allows you to set booktype, I could set booktype with imgburn after I flashed my burner.

This drive is not a Samsung drive but a LG. It indeed seems to have auto bitsetting according to a post on the second page here :

FYI not all LG driver have auto bitsetting, I have two LG burners and none of them have auto bisetting. Also imgbrun does not sets booktype automatically, but if you set it once it will keep the setting.
