Thanks for getting back.

I am not planning on purchasing any physical or downloaded game version (digital version). I simply want to try & download Wii U games from torrent sites, install/run them from the HDD.

Isn't HAXCHI needed to do so?
First, you will want to use Wii U USB Helper to download your Wii U games. Second, if a game received a disc release, then you don't need Haxchi or anything else to play the game after it's installed to your USB HDD.

Again, your understanding of what HaxChi gives you vs Browserhax is limited. Please read through the noob guide (in the stickies and in my signature) then come back here and ask any questions you have about the guide. You need to understand some basic principles before you get started. There isn't a "one hack fits all" solution. You need to read through the guide then make a choice on how you want to proceed but you are mixing entrypoints with CFW's and other misunderstandings.

Apologies for asking these silly questions.

But I appreciate all your help and advice.

Thus, Wii U USB Helper, is all I need in order to download Wii U games and have it installed on an external HDD?

Coldboot Haxchi comes equipped with blocking updates and every time you boot up the system you are in CFW mode which you need in order to use cracked DLC
Saves you time from launching Haxchi everytime you want to go into CFW mode

  1. You will use Wii U USB Helper to download Wii U games to your computer.
  2. You will transfer the games you downloaded to your Wii U's SD card.
  3. You will use the internet browser on your Wii U to launch the Homebrew Launcher.
  4. You will launcher WUP Installer GX from the Homebrew Launcher.
  5. You will use WUP Installer GX to install games from the SD card to your USB HDD.
If you attempt to install a game that did not receive a disc release (i.e. It was only released on the eShop), then you will need to run CFW (Mocha, Haxchi, or CBHC) in order to be able to install and play those games.

Excellent, now we are talking!

In step 3, Homebrew Launcher is needed. But in doing so, it'll download the firmware update once I connect to the internet. It's also needed to install NNU-Patcher to prevent the system to update the firmware.

1) Does this mean, the update will finish to download, (in order to use the Homebrew Launcher (since it's connected to the internet and normal blocking via system options, doesn't stop it actually)), but it won't force me to install the firmware update?

2) What about the system updating the firmware once it goes into sleep mode?

If you have DNS blocking enabled it WONT update the firmware when you go online to launch browserhax. DNS blocking prevents all access to Nintendo stuff. That's why you need to use NNU Patcher so you can still get to the eshop to buy your game. Using NNU Patcher will allow you to access the eshop even though you have DNS blocking enabled and you WONT get updated.

You keep going back to the point that if you have to go online that you'll be updated. You WONT if you have DNS blocking enabled. Period. It doesn't matter if you use tools like NNU patcher to access the eshop or if you go anywhere else online like the browserhax pages, DNS will block you from accidentally updating. Even in sleep mode.

How many times did I tell OP this...?

How many times did I tell OP this...?

No kidding. If he'd just read through the noob guide at least once (all the way through) then he could find all the answers there
Do you really think, I'm going to waste my time reading through your guide when you have that kind of attitude?

Do you really think that were gonna waste any more of our time helping you when you think reading the community noob guide is a waste of time?

Also I don't give a fuck if you read the guide or not. You're the one here asking for help. I simply pointed you to a thread that answers your questions since you can't seem to grasp what people are telling you over and over in this thread.

eShop-only games and DLC require Haxchi FW or Mocha CFW. You can play Zelda BotW just fine without CFW, for example, but if you want the DLC you need some form of CFW.

Also, the best way to block updates is by deleting the update folder on NAND, since it's not dependent on your connection settings, it applies to all connections, current or future, and there's zero chance of accidentally updating if you for example add a new connection.

1) How do you, Kafluke, know if I haevn't read any guides, besides yours, at all? Do you have some super power allowing you to read my mind?
2) Has it ever occured to you, I might not have understood parts of what the guides said?
3) Is it ok if I ask questions, if I don't quite follow? Or do I need your permission Kafluke?
4) Maybe you, Kafluke, and Lacius, didn't quite understand the part I was not sure about - dwelling on your precious guides and not actually reading what I posted & what confused me.
5) You sound like the typical guy/girl.. who waits for posts like these, just so that they can feel important when he/she can point out a guide they wrote.
6) Your mom & dad must feel so proud hearing you swear, making you sound butch or macho.

Next time I'll post a new thread, kindly excuse yourself. You sure know everything, and if you are going to keep on pointing out reading the guide or whatever, don't bother replying to my thread. Rather go wash your mouth out with soap and give it a good brush afterwords.

Kafluke, DON'T POST ANYTHING ON MY THREADS AGAIN. Thanks!

Hello

Happy New Year everyone :grog:;)

@WineAnt :

I defend the words of Katufle and Lacius, it tries to tell you simply that there is a tutorial on the forum, and that the questions that you ask, it is in this tutorial.

They are there to inform and guide you, and you judge them in your own way.

So I think if you post a new message , I think you could wait a very long time for your answer.

CDT, Jeannotte. ;)

@CDT, Jeannotte :

Happy New Year to you too

Glad to see someone with manners for once....well, online.

I've Googled Wii U guides for a long time now:

1) I've read them
2) I had some doubts
3) I asked for clarification
4) that ok?

If you feel, my answer is somewhere in some guide, don't bother replying, since I've already read them (hence, why I am asking a question).

Kafluke started getting snotty & Lacius eventually too. And just like toddlers on a playground, they started gang-ing up towards me.

Very mature, unless those two aren't yet...

This is why i quit responding to all types of help posts (not just here but everywhere now) because of incompetent idiots who don't take valid advice from experienced members or never read/reasearch things before posting.

Read my last post again.

I do agree. So called wise cracks, who thinks the world of themselves, are reasons I ignore certain forums.

Bottom line: If you can help, then help. If you are just posting for the sake of Thumbs Ups, get a real life IMO. You either help, or you stay quiet!

@WineAnt you seem to have trouble with your short term memory so let me remind you of the events of this thread:

You came here asking for help.
Help was given and repeated multiple times.
When I saw your struggle to understand the concept I politely recommended you read the noob guide which had been written by many experienced users on here so we don't have to repeat ourselves over and over again in constant new threads.
You didn't come asking for clarification on any point of the guide. You asked very basic questions that all of us know are covered well in the guide which led us to believe you didn't actually read it.

I'm gonna stop here and explain somethikng to you that you don't seem to understand.
1. This is not YOUR thread. It belongs to the community of gbatemp just like the guide does. I started the noob guide but I'm not the sole author. It has many experienced users contributing to it all the time.
2. Do you really think I care about "likes" and post counts? That's a juvenile mindset because in my age it doesn't put food on the table and it doesn't pay my bills. We do this because we like helping people. Period. There is no other gain from this.

When I suggested you read the community noob guide you called it a waste of your time but you don't seem to mind wasting anyone else's time by making us repeat ourselves. This is the mindset of a generation of spoiled brats. You want your hand held through every lesson in life but you don't want to "waste your time" by doing the research and learning it on your own.

When you were called out on it you naturally got defensive and attempted to lash back with name calling and judgement.

I'd slow down and take a breath, realise that we were trying to help you and adult enough to put out the olive branch. I'm willing to still help you with any questions but you need to listen better and don't be so quick to be offended.

Here's the mindset of the "offended"

Guy walks into a service shop and says he's having trouble with his Ford starter motor. The clerk gives advice to the customer but senses the customer is not following him. Clerk offers the customer a well written book FOR FREE! Customer slams book down on the counter in protest for being offended that the clerk would offer a book instead of spoon feeding him the answer.

This is exactly the story of this thread.
