Hi everyone! Im going to buy an original 3DS along with the SKY3DS+. I found a thread showing how to block updates by blocking certain URLs from Nintendo. I cant post the link now because im on the phone. My only concern is if by doing that I cant play online games with the flashcard. Does that solution stop me from playing online?

Thanks for the reply. I know there was a thread for this next question here but: Can Nintendo easily detect a cracked game and ban me from online services? I dont want to cheat, just play normally.

Private header? Never heard of that. Can you explain me that or share a link/thread of it?
Every legit game that you actually bought has a private header to play online, and it passes a check every time you try to play online
however if you download a rom, the header will be the same as the person who dumped the rom, so if you pass the check with that header, you will probably get banned(aka you can't play online).
If you inject a private header(you will need to dump the header of a original copy of the game), you can play online safely though.

Oh. Looks like Nintendo is fighting harder than I thought. Looks like this is not gonna be as easy as it was on the Wii xD.

So, to play online, I'll need a copy of an original cartridge and dump the private header. But if I buy an official game, whats the point of copying it if I have a legit game to play without worrying?

The point is that you can use the same private header for any ROM you download, just as long as no one's playing online on the cartridge at the same time. Best is to use a cheap game that's offline only.

Some of the URLs some people suggest blocking will also block the eshop from working, though I don't think they will block online. I recommend only blocking these URLs, these are the only URLs related to system updates as far as I know, and will allow eshop and online to work:
nus.cdn.shop.wii.com
nus.cdn.wup.shop.nintendo.net
nus.c.shop.nintendowifi.net
nus.cdn.c.shop.nintendowifi.net
nus.wup.shop.nintendo.net
cbvc.cdn.nintendo.net
This is the way I have had it set up for a long time now (minus cbvc, that one was added recently to combat the browser update check) and it's blocked updates on both the Wii U and 3DS without fail.

The above list is overkill:

cbvc.cdn.nintendo.net
nus.c.shop.nintendowifi.net
nus.cdn.c.shop.nintendowifi.net

is sufficient to block updates and browser nag.
I have used the above for 2 months with an N3ds on 10.1 with QQ3ds and an n3ds with 9.0sys/9.0emu

Thanks for all the replys. I now see the advantage of putting the same header to all my ROM's. I thought Nintendo had a database with the ID and name of the cartridge xD. Thanks for the help and for the links to block future updates!
