So as it is possible to use:
A) OpenWRT Router
B) hostfile change in routing
C) 90sDNS => atmo only

Can one block exactly pinpoint nintendo urls / dns to

Prevent the Switch from pulling new FW UPDATE data,
but
Retain Online Play functionality ?

I'd be ok if stuff like Apex, Overwatch etc keeps working.

And yes. I could hold +&- every time on boot to clean the pending update cache,
or use my Lite (unmodded) for online play,
but I wanna use my chipped OLED i stock sometimes for a bit of online play.

Ideas ?

TL:DR
Play online on Switch, but prevent pending FW updates from being pulled

Nope , can't play online when you block server communication
But the software I refer won't even use Nintys own servers I think.
Do Apex n Overwatch ?
I think not...

But I'm unsure if a check happens on launch.

Is there no specific url / dns for fw updates only ?!

Im would be ok with blocking specific ones routerside.
Switch FW updates and Fuse burning are the end of me :nayps3:

There are DNS that block server communication but it also block online play

The problem with this request is that you cannot play online based games without it being on the latest update. The update itself is being pulled from Nintendo's service. Blocking Nintendo would just prevent you from updating the game to play it online with others.

And if I pull in the update via Local User Matchup first ?

Also the switch is on latest fw atm, so...

I have router with openwrt
and I decided to go with dnsmasq

add those lines to your dnsmasq.conf in /etc
address=/sun.hac.lp1.d4c.nintendo.net/1.3.3.7
address=/atumn.hac.lp1.d4c.nintendo.net/1.3.3.7

then do as root or use sudo before the command.
/etc/init.d/dnsmasq restart

then you have to make sure you use your router ip in dns gateway setting on your switch.
