Just letting you know that HernanZh sent me all of the text dumps earlier today, and I've been translating the tutorial.

Here's what I have so far:
[stop]
 HP…キャラクターの耐久力。
 SP…『技』を使うためのポイント。

 攻撃…直接攻撃時の攻撃力。
 防御…鬼道以外の攻撃に対する防御力。
 命中…敵への攻撃の当たりやすさ。
 回避…敵からの攻撃に対する回避力。
 霊圧…高まると、直接攻撃時に
    追加攻撃が発生しやすくなる。[stop]
キャラクターが使用できるコマンドです。

     …指定した場所へ移動する
     …敵に直接攻撃する
     …鬼道などの技を使用する
     …霊圧をためる
     …道具を使う
     …キャラの行動を終了する

※『移動』以外は、行動後、
 待機状態(行動終了)になります。[stop]
『霊圧』コマンドは、キャラの霊圧値を
上昇させますが、周囲に『霊子』がある
場合は、その霊子も吸収するため、霊圧
値はさらに上昇します。
(マップ霊子はYボタンで確認できます)

※霊圧値は直接攻撃時にも少し上昇します
[stop]
キャラには、それぞれ属性があり、
属性によって有利不利が存在します。
また、特殊な属性として、『ALL』と
『非戦』があります。『ALL』は全属性
に強く『非戦』は直接攻撃ができません。[stop]
敵を倒す事でEXP(経験値)を入手し、
EXPが100になる毎に、キャラの
レベルが上昇します。入手EXPは、
倒した敵とのレベル差で変化します。

ステージクリア時に生き残ったキャラは、
下記の条件から算出されたボーナスEXP
を入手することができます。
  1:クリアターン数
  2:支援/EXによる攻撃回数
  3:生存キャラクター数[stop]
システムコマンドから、現在の勝利条件と
敗北条件を確認することができます。 [stop]
1マスサイズの味方同士が隣りあうと、
隣接サポート能力が発動します。
        サポートには直接攻撃時
        に支援するタイプと、
        無条件で効果が発生する
        タイプがあります。
        左図では、AがBの
        攻撃力を上げています。
[stop]
条件を満たすとことで、隣りあっている
2人で協力して攻撃を行う事ができます。
▼支援攻撃:隣接サポート能力▼
 サポート能力の、『戦闘支援:攻撃』を
 持つキャラが隣りにいると使用可能。
▼EX:協力設定攻撃▼
 互いに協力状態のキャラ同士が、
 霊圧の高い状態で隣りあうと使える
 合体攻撃。
[stop]
 HP…The character's endurance.
 SP…Points used for 『Skills』.

 ATK…Direct attack power.
 DEF…Defense against non-Kidou attacks.
ACC…The accuracy of the character's attacks.
EVA…The ability to dodge enemy attacks.
 Reiatsu…The higher the value,
    the more follow-up attacks.[stop]
Commands which characters can use:

     …Move to designated position
     …Directly attack an enemy
     …Use Kidou and other skills
     …Build up Reiatsu
     …Use Items
     …End character's turn

※After performing any action other than 『Move』,
 the character's turn will end.[stop]
The 『Reiatsu』 command raises the character's
Reiatsu, but if there are any Reishi around, they
will also absorb it and the character's Reiatsu will
go up even more.
(You can check the Reishi map with the Y button)

※Reiatsu also increases a little when making direct attacks
[stop]
Each character has their own attributes, and depending
on the attributes they can be beneficial or disadvantageous.
Also as special attributes, there's 『ALL』 and
『Non-Combat』. 『ALL』 is strong against all attributes,
and 『Non-Combat』 can't attack directly.[stop]
By defeating enemies you receive EXP. Every time
it reaches 100, your level increases. The amount
received varies depending on the difference in level
between the character and the defeated enemy.

After clearing a stage, surviving characters
can receive bonus EXP according to the
conditions below.
  1: number of turns taken
2: number of Support/EX attacks executed
  3: number of surviving characters
From System Command, you can check
the current conditions for Victory or Defeat. [stop]
When allies 1 square size are next to each other,
Adjacent Support abilities are executed.
        With Support, one type
        aids direct attacks, and
        another type has effects
        that occur without any
        conditions. On the left, A
        is raising B's ATK power.
[stop]
By fulfilling conditions, two adjacent
characters can execute a combo attack.
▼Aid Attack: Adjacent Support Skills▼
If you are next to a character who has the Support
skill 『Battle Aid: Attack』, this can be used.
▼EX: Co-op Attack▼
A combo attack that can be executed
 when the cooperating characters have
high Reiatsu and are next to each other.
Just a couple quick questions:

What's Reishi (霊子) and Kidou (鬼道)? Should I leave them as they are, or is there an accepted English equivalent for them?

At the moment I'm translating this without playing the game, so it's a little hard to visualize what's going on when I read the Japanese text dump.
So if I've made any errors, let me know.

The file I'm currently working on is particularly long (not the longest, but long nonetheless), so I probably won't get it finished until tomorrow or the day after. When I'm done I'll send it to HernanZh to add to the patch.

Wow, if you let
shadowkillerdragon
Kiisuke
Secret-Agent-bob
kaizer ryo

help, maybe it will get better.......... I mean the you are 6 people who translate ......

Kidou is demon Magic. You can leave it as Kidou.
Reishi is Spirit Particles. I'd change it to Spirit Particles.

Both Bleach related definations could be found on Wikipedia. So it's probably quicker to do the chinese character search there first for specific terms.

Yeah it easier for us If he make Kidou and Spirit Particles

I'll agree with Keshire on that one :) Reishi should proberbly be translated into Spirit Particles ^^ but Kidou left as it is, if im not mistaken entirely thats also how most of the manga/anime translations keep it.

As for the text for the story, i've been grinding away at scouring the net for programs to assist a bit more than your avg. hex-editor :P and i found lots...but none of them are vista compatible :P so im in a pickle when it comes to using them.

That's unnecessary. Any text editor (including notepad) is sufficient for editing.

Really? basically what i've seen
tongue.gif
both using notepad and hex-editors is pretty jumbled up.
I've only been able to find a single file where the text wasent messed up completely in the rom :/ which kinda makes the dumping of specific text easy.

I, too, thought to try to dump the rom myself to get to the text. Unfortunately it doesn't really work like how I expected. I never knew finding the text in a game would be so complicated.

I've only been able to find a few things thus far but for what I did find I went ahead and translated.

CODE
??????????????? There is no space for (to allow) Bankai.
???? Zanpaktou inscription
?????????????? Enhance/Strengthen the selected technique?
?????????????? Overwriting the save data.
???????? Is it good?

Hopefully this isn't stuff you've already done.

I'll try to find more later.

Are you saying that you are gonna translate the Story!?

nono
tongue.gif
im not planning on translating the story ^^ honest to god my knowledge of written Japanese is as horrible as ever
tongue.gif
basically i only know spoken japanese ^^ through the intensive training of audio tapes and way too much spare time
tongue.gif
which allows me to understand some of the story as it has some of the text spoken in the game.

Basically as others offered to give it a go at translating the story
tongue.gif
i thought i'd see if i could dump the text from the rom so that anyone who had at least a little knowledge there could translate it/parts of it ^^ and perhaps we'd have alot done by the time Noitora got back.

So yes
tongue.gif
while i might be able to translate a few phrases here and there ^^ i cant do it without the audio.

You can Translate the thing when they talk. And How are you putting the translate in the game I mean how do you do the patch? It seems impossible to me.

Well
tongue.gif
im not putting anything in atm ^^ and dont plan on it either atm.
Anyway, basically you can extract the text from within an .nds image (or at least the positions and whatnot of the text), alter it to fit whatever language you want (note: lots of work
wink.gif
) and then simply patch it so it alters the sectors you've messed with.
Which, if you havent made too many mistakes
tongue.gif
should result in a translation.
Allthough this can take many steps ^^ and many redos (e.g. cavespeak...look it up
wink.gif
).

As for using translation tools
tongue.gif
allready talked earlier in this topic with Noitora about it
tongue.gif
and he's right, you'd really need to go through each and every translation alot of times to ensure that what it says really is in the same context as whats written
tongue.gif
thats the problem with online translators.

Good idea Biscuit, Someone who can dump the story?(I dont think it will be somone)

Decided to go ahead and do the voice acting credits. I'm about 98% finished. There's just one or two that I don't know and I don't want to read their names wrong. Someone who can read kanji a little better can finish it up. I also left it in the Japanese way of writing names: surname followed by first name.

Names with a / are split between how it's read and how fans have decided to romanize it. For example, the arrancar Shawlong. It could be written as "Shauron" but most fans have decided to do it as Shawlong. If Noitora was in the game I could do the same with his, as most fans romanize his name as Nnoitra.

@Keshire, eldhand, Secret-Agent-bob:
Cool, I've changed "Reishi" into "Spirit Particles," thanks for the tip!

@Kiisuke:
Thanks so much for your help! I'm horrible with reading Japanese names, especially male first names.

@anyone else who wants to help:
Here are all the text dumps by HernanZh.

So far I have translated the following:

database folder:
??db_skill_help_dump (100% done)
??db_victory_dump (100% done)

scriptdump2 folder:
??db_tutorial_msg_dump (90% done)

If anyone wants to start translating a particular file, just post here so others will know which files are being translated. If this project gets really big, I may have to start a new 3rd Phantom translation topic and put everything in the OP so that people don't have to go searching through the entire thread to find out which files need translating.

*EDIT*
Any translating help will be greatly appreciated, but we really need people who actually know Japanese and can read kanji. If you have to use Google/AltaVista BabelFish/Yahoo, you should at least be very familiar with the game so that you can fix up the Engrish. If you use an online translating website, please send me your polished translation file (no Engrish, please
wink2.gif
) so that I can check your translation against the original Japanese text dump.

hm, we really should have a master list going on that shows excactly what parts have been translated
smile.gif
its nice that you posted what yuo where working on now atm. ^^ but im sure some of the other stuff has been worked on (or perhaps is even completed) as well.

I'll take a look at it later
smile.gif
seems though that the dump is only victory conditions, abilities, item names and so forth ^^ no story (but Noitora diddent intend on doing anything with the story till the rest was done, so i guess thats to be expected).

Edit: Messed a bit with some translation tools
tongue.gif
and yes, as expected its really messy. However with some knowledge of the universe the game is in, its not that difficult (needs proof reading though).

was one of the ones i found.

Which translated

and polished would be something like: (note: im calling them Zanpaktou
tongue.gif
even though a proper translation proberbly would be soul slayer/reaver/sword - basically to keep a little bit within the universe. Furthermore i've shortend it as english takes up so much more space than japanese

).

QUOTE"The Zanpaktou's blade expands & contracts, penetrating the opponent with a single blow."
edit2: I guess you could be really picky and say "The blade of the Zanpaktou expands and contracts, penetrating the opponent with a single blow" to make it even more proper english -.- bleh.

Please note as stated that this translation was made from text, my weakest point in japanese, using a translation tool and then adjusted to actually be meaningfull ^^ as well as fitting into the universe.

Edit3: (wow so many edits). Anyway if nobody minds that its not 100% proper translation (allthough it should be close enough!) i'd be happy to run through more of the text

Given the context of the game, it would be more correct to refer to the weapons as 'Zanpaktou' as opposed to the translated alternatives, much like how individual Zanpaktou's should be referred to by name and not by their literal meaning. While I agree that your second edit provides the more correct English, it doesn't have to be perfect. It should be fine as long as the text is understandable and makes sense when you factor in all the Bleach terminology.

Finished the first draft of db_tutorial_name. I'll list both Japanese with the English under it so you can quickly double check my work.

Im half-asleep right now so i just took a quick glance
tongue.gif
the Reiko part (you mentioned it as Spirit Child) im fairly sure refers to the "spirit squares" on the game map that increase/decrease your reiatsu (spirit particle/energy)
tongue.gif
and not a spirit child.

So they might want to have another name like "Reiatsu Zones" or...heck i dont really know o.O

edit: meh couldent stop myself from looking once more.
