Use ModMii to modify your wii, works even on black wii's.

(I didn't catch what he was asking either, but ModMii is the answer to all of life's questions anyway, lol)

There is no IOS 236. That's used for a patched IOS 36, which is no longer necessary.

If you mean there are IOSes under 200 that are different or missing you might just have a console that came with a newer system menu and those were never installed or are stubs.

Am I the only one that speaks 'dodgy keyboard'? This guy is clearly comparing two Wii's, one white and one black. The white one has a patched ios in slot 236, and the black one doesn't. Now I can see why you're confused because why the F would someone bother - this ain't the da Vinci code am I right? Lol

@OP, you can stop trying to reinvent the wheel, just softmod your wii from square 1 using ModMii or another generally accepted method without skipping steps. The issue is you don't have a cios installed (e.g. cios249) - now if you had followed every step of your modmii guide you wouldn't be missing something like that.

please, don't use video tutorial.
these are ALWAYS wrong. if not outdated ... if not dangerous !

first, did you follow modmii ? because modmii is not "installed", it's a PC program you use to generate a hacking guide, then you follow the guide to update/replace/install IOS (not iso) on your black wii.
the IOS it will install are the one you need. If you think it's missing an IOS, it's not. Modmii is updated and install all you need. don't compare with old hacked consoles. things have changed all these last years.
Once you did that, you should follow the syscheck guide in my signature, and post the result here. this way, we can confirm you did everything correctly.

For your HDD :
DO NOT USE FLASH DRIVE ! (they are not compatible)
prefer using a real external hard disk drive, with motor and rotating magnetic plates.

make a big, single, partition on your drive and format it to FAT32.
If possible, use MBR (not GPT), primary partition (not extended or logical).
then use this formatter :
http://www.ridgecrop.demon.co.uk/index.htm?guiformat.htm

once you formatted the drive to FAT32, use this tool to put games on your drive :

please, give more information.

it's HDD or Flash drive?
don't use WBFS partition format, only FAT32.
How did you add a game? manually copying a file with your computer file explorer, or using WiiBackupManager interface the proper way described in the link I posted?
Did you plug the drive in Port0 or Port 1? Only ONE usb port is working, use the correct one. Hint: USB Port0 is located at the bottom of the console, near the edge. use this one.

you still didn't post a syscheck report.

flash drive works "not ok".
Almost all flash drives have detection problems. Some work, but very small number! never use flash if you have issues, this way you leave that possible issue out of your debugging steps. if you want to use flash later, you can, only when you know everything is correctly setup and everything else is working good.

To post a syscheck, maybe you read the link I posted? it's a guide "how to post syscheck", I won't rewrite that guide myself here when it's already written.

I have no idea why you posted random pictures of the loader's settings. these have nothing to do with the detection issue.

how did you partition your drive ? (which program, please show us a partition table screenshot)
how did you format your drive ? (which program)

why you can't read a guide?
you had TWO options, you picked the wrong one. read the guide, look at the filename.
the guide told you to use spoiler tags too, you didn't either.

edit: Oh, your windows probably has the "hide known file's extension" enabled, that's why you picked the wrong file, you didn't see the extension name. You need to open the other one : syscheck.csv (not xml)

And based on that wrong report, you clearly didn't follow modmii, that's why it doesn't work.
or maybe you said you didn't want to install cIOS for usbloaders ? did you change any modmii settings? the only thing you can say "no" or disable in the option is the question to install the "usbloader channel", as it's outdated and it's better to install the official one, with proper titleID. (to xflak: it's fine to install and use, but for example, usbloadergx rely on its own forwarder's titleID to do few things like autoboot priiloader and return to loader when exiting a game)

Please, use modmii if you want to hack your console. this is the first thing you have to do.
and please, please, please, read and follow at the letter the guide that modmii will generate for you. it will be based on your need, on your replies. it's a personalized guide. follow it properly, or you'll end up with a bad softmod.
you already did something wrong with a non dangerous tool, I can only be worried in advance when you'll do dangerous things.

hi flash drive works fine
Good for you if YOUR flash drive works fine.
flash drives of other users don't work correctly.
