I have no problem with my hinge what so ever. I have an Aqua Blue console that I got on launch day, the screen stays perfectly in place and doesn't squeak at all when moved into another angle, just a slight little click. But I do actually have a problem with the hinge on my DSI XL, it does wobble like a few people have mentioned.

I saw the wobble in another hinge 3DS thread, a person put up a video. My 3DS doesn't do anything like that. :\

i have an aqua blue 3ds that wobbles but i bought a clear plastic cover for it on ebay and it makes the screen pretty stiff. it doesnt wobble anymore. the cover was only $2 free shipping from asia though, but hey it was worth it

Wow... looks like I chose the right color

Decided to hold off on buying the system until probably next paycheck, got a few bills to pay.

what do you mean wobble? how can I test mine? like wobble when the screen is closed, open, clicked into place?

My new (And 3rd) Cosmo Black has hardly any wobble. (Atleast while clicked in place). Though, it does have a bit of wobble, and squeeked a bit (Though i rubbed some lubricant over it and it doesnt squeek anymore

Blue's finally catching up. It may have less votes on both options but it has a better ratio than when Black had 31 votes.

When it's clicked into place it wobbles a bit

lol and you guys think that's a defect?

It def. is, if it wobbles as much as this

A little wobble is actually good. It acts like a bit of a 'shock absorber', as people describe, which helps prolong the hinge's life.

Mine's the exact same. It's definitely a defect.

Is this more noticeable?

I think that one more of a defect.

Mines doesn't do that.

Definitely the part when he shake it at the end.

after a couple weeks with a slightly wobbly hinge i liken it to a ticking clock at night. It dont bother me at all until I notice it...then it gets unbearable

What do you mean?

It dont bother me at all cause I dont notice it. But as soon as I do notice it I zone in on it and it becomes a major annoyance.

Im in the "it shouldnt have any wobble camp" especially with the motion side of this. I read alot of people had this with past DSs but mine never wobbled.I also see alot of people it dont bother, and thats cool, just for me its a huge annoyance. When I play my DSL and it snaps in place(which is firm) i get a I wish my 3DS was solid like that thought.

So.. should I get Cosmo Black or Aqua Blue? I guess I should get the most... eh... wobbly one? >.>

Get whichever color you want, but thoroughly test it out. If its really wobbly get it exchanged ASAP. Also pay close attention to it in the first few days. I read some of the systems with wobble got progressively worse after a few days. If it gets worse have it exchanged. This is what I'll be doing. Planning on getting the blue one.

So I finally bought one today. An aqua blue with a little wobble and no squeak. I was quite happy with it, until I noticed the bottom right area of the top screen's chipped/cracked. I immediately called gamestop and requested an exchange, they were being a dick about it and said its a manufacturer's defect. They were adamant about me calling nintendo and ask them to replace it. Gonna file a complaint against gamestop's district manager for sure. Even the representative from nintendo told me gamestop shouldve replaced it, no questions asked.

Anyway nintendo says they'll happily replace it. I printed the return label they emailed me and I will ship it out tomorrow. Hopefully the replacement I get wont be that much wobbly as well.
