Hello,

A friend of mine give me his new3ds because he has a black screen. He tried to install A9HL but he said he failed.

So for now i tried to boot it
- with SD card in : Black screen (an error occured blabla)
- without SD card in : same
- with SD card pushing L+R+UP+A : Just a black screen NOTHING ELSE
- witouh SD card pushing L+R+UP+A : Just a black screen NOTHING ELSE
So for now i'm out of ideas. I don't know if its a hard or soft brick. Can you tell how i can fix that ?

PS : i know a little bit about hardmod, but i don't wich tuto to follow and i will do it as my last option.

Thanks ;3

Can you provide a little more information about where he "failed" installing A9HL. If there is a black screen with the blue light turning on, it means he installed A9LH. Try holding SELECT while booting, with and without the SD card inserted.

He can't say anymore about his fail .... I tried what you said and i got the same black screen ...

Check the contents of the SD card, ensure there is a arm9loaderhax.bin file on the root of the card. You can also try deleting Home Menu’s extdata through : /Nintendo 3DS/(32 Character ID)/(32 Character ID)/extdata/00000000/
  • EUR Region: Delete 00000098
You can also try other troubleshooting methods, here, https://3ds.guide/troubleshooting

Can you access to Luma3DS config menu?
Turn on this: (as like the guide says)
*Autoboot SysNAND
*Use SYSNAND FORM if booting with R
*Show NAND or user string in SysSettings
If not, try this.
Black screen on SysNAND boot after installing arm9loaderhax
  1. Ensure you have a working payload.
    1. Check for the existence of arm9loaderhax.bin in the root of your SD card.
  2. Try resetting Luma’s config and fix options
    1. Delete /luma/config.bin from your SD card
    2. Set your options when it boots
  3. Test booting Hourglass9
    1. On Luma3DS, hold (Start) on boot
  4. Try deleting home menu’s extdata
    1. Clear Home Menu’s extdata by navigating to the following folder on your SD card: /Nintendo 3DS/(32 Character ID)/(32 Character ID)/extdata/00000000/
      • EUR Region: Delete 00000098
      • JPN Region: Delete 00000082
      • USA Region: Delete 0000008f
      • KOR Region: Delete 000000A9
  5. Try booting without any cartridges inserted (including flashcarts)
  6. If you previously downgraded with Gateway, ensure that you are using the latest Luma3DS version (v6.2.3 or higher, at the least)
  7. If your NAND is of a version between 3.0.0 and 4.5.0, do the following:
    • Ensure that you are using the latest Luma3DS version (v6.6 or higher, at the least)
    • Download this file and rename it to firmware.bin
    • Download this file
    • Copy firmware.bin and cetk to the /luma/ folder on your SD card
    • Delete both of these files after updating your 3DS
  8. Try following 9.2.0 ctrtransfer
