    Hey everyone,

So I'm a relative newbie, but I previously softmodded my own Wii and my brother's, and now I've tried to take the last step and start backing up Wii and GC games to play from a USB drive.

I only have access to OSX and Ubuntu at the moment, and I could not get ModMii to work properly through Wine so I just downloaded the package of WADs that were contained in ModMii 6.3.1 (from a different forum, the OP seemed to have the same issues and a similar SysCheck).

The strange thing is that after running the 236 Installer v5, and then installing all WADs in the ModMii folder with MMM, SysCheck recognizes the new IOSs, but other IOS tools like WiiMod do not. I've neglected to install Priiloader though I think without it, my IOS-installed BootMii backup might be useless. I was warned not to install Priiloader on a system with modified IOSs, though I didn't think Priiloader would affect USB Loading anyway.

Now all I get is a black screen (sometimes with an eventual Wii reboot) from WiiFlow, no USB recognition from USB Loader GX in either slot (though I can see the USB directory), and Configurable USB freezes at the load screen. I'm using a PNY Attaché 32GB formatted FAT32 with .wbfs files in the wbfs folder on the USB root, and I'm using WitGui for OSX as a file manager. Would a WD Passport fix this?

Here's my most recent SysCheck, and I have one from before I followed that other guide as well:

Any help would be greatly appreciated - I've just totally hit a wall.

    Thank you!

Also, here was the most recent file structure I tried:

USB: -> /wbfs/New Super Mario Bros. Wii [SMNE01]/SMNE01.wbfs

It's a black Wii if that makes a difference - it sounds like other people had some extra trouble with those. I feel like I must be overlooking something simple.

Hey, great news. It was just a matter of USB storage device compatibility. So for the sake of anyone else having similar problems, I previously tried using a PNY Attaché 32G, which says it should work according to the USB Device Compatibility list. I went to Target and picked up a Sandisk Cruzer Glide 8GB for $12.00 and that seems to work just fine with the handful of Wii games I was able to fit on it. I haven't tried any GC games yet.

Now that I know it was just the USB device, I'll probably just keep an eye out for a WD Passport.

    Hope this helps someone else!
