Hardware Bit confused, please help.

Ok, so i want to get a modchip for my wii. and i have a d2b chipset with legs cut.
so what im planning on getting is a wii clip and wiikey v2.

Now, seeing as a have a d2b with cut legs, do i just solder all the points onto the clip and place it in my wii. or do i leave some points ?

I think i dont need to solder points D,E,F and G.

From the front page of the WiiKey web site:

Compatible with D2B "cut pin" drives (does not require the cut pins to be connected)

Assuming you get a "yellow sticker' WiiKey2 (all new ones are), and you have the V14 WiiClip (the correct one for WK2), you should cut the D E F & G pads off the WiiClip. Yes, use fine scissors or a sharp blade, to cut the traces completely from the board.

i don't really see the need of a mod chip now considering how far soft modding has come.

does the wiikey 2 automatically skip updates ?

You can set update blocking using the config disk.
