Hacking Better R4 Firmware

Is there any other firmware for my R4 SDHC than the stuff that comes with it. I can barely read it and the interface is crap.
Can I install firmware from other flashcards onto it?

Yes you can get YSMenu, search for YSauto and it has detailed instructions for installing it as either firmware, an rom or takes place of moonshell icon

YSmenu is even more crappy in interface. the only better thing however is that, it shows whether DS roms support multicard play and wi-fi in the menu. but it looks like crap. get moonshell2. I know it's not a new firmware for R4, but it's just like the M3 Sakura firmware. the only thing it lacks on R4, is the Rom support.

Get glasses and a skin.
The glasses to help improve your vision, because both the R4DS and YSMenu are very readable.
The skin to change the way the menu's look. They are simple interfaces because they are basically just there to load games.
For media use something like Moonshell.
