4.4.2 Changelog
  • Priiloader is now launched using a forwarder to automatically reload
IOS236 as opposed to having to use MMM to launch using IOS236
  • IOS236 updated to v5 MOD to install IOS236 quicker and without prompts
  • Renamed System Menu WADs to begin with an "S" instead of a "#"
so they will always be bulk installed after its System Menu IOS.
Existing files in "temp" will be renamed during updates.
  • Updated USB Loader Forwarder Channel to v3. It can now launch apps
with meta.xml arguments and also off of a Hard Drive formatted as NTFS
  • Updated Wii Backup Manager to v0.3.6 build43
  • Fixed bug in NAND Builder where themed System Menu's were sometimes
not being installed to the emulated nand.
  • Fixed bug when installing SNEEK without building a NAND where
it would fail if a "temp" folder did not already exist.

A little qeustion:

How does the locked HBC folder work?
I've downloaded it with modmii but, can't get it to work.

I get an error telling me it can't change the folder name...
Did I set it up wrong?

Thanx in advance!

P.S. Modmii is awesome!

To access the locked folder, you need to enter in the password. The default password is "UDLRAB", but you can change that in the meta.xml

and to put apps in the locked apps folder you need to use a PC (or WiiXplorer) to move apps from the normal apps folder to the locked apps folder

What size SD card should I use in conjunction with ModMii?

I got to the part where it tries to make a NAND backup, but it said I didn't have enough space on my SD card.

I'm using a 512MB SD card.

IIRC - it's Recommended that you use a SD (not SDHC) card, & since the NAND backup is ~528Mb and the 'basic' ModMii folder(s) are ~220Mb I would recommend you have AT LEAST a 1Gb SD card

But where do the folder go on the sd card? I've tried with no avail

ModMii puts everything in the right place already

on the root of the sd card, u will have an "apps" and "apps_locked" folder
when the locked apps folder is unlocked, it will be renamed from "apps_locked" to "apps" and the normals apps folder will be renamed from "apps" to "apps_"

in the normal apps folder, there will be an "_apps_locked" folder, this contains the files to unlock the apps_locked folder. Inside it, there is a meta.xml, where u can edit the password if u are worried your kids (or whoever) will figure out the default ModMii password

in the "SD:\apps_locked" folder there is a "_back" folder, this is what is used to re-lock your locked apps folder. Any apps you want to lock, should go in this folder (ie. "SD:\apps_locked\MMM")

Currently using this awesome ModMii program, which is way easier than when I chipped my wii about 4 years ago. Anyway, I am at the part there I am trying to make a NAND back up and I think it has frozen on me. It hasn't moved for quite some time. It says 3 different bad blocks then "Short write to block 3697: 12288 byets
wtf wrote 0 bytes, ret = 2"

Not sure what to do now, just looking for some guidance.

Thanks in advance!

that isnt really a bug in modmii or one that it can fix. your best bet is to contact team twiizers with your bug and answer their questions.

but off the top of my head i would say it user error. maybe there isnt 528MB of free space on your SD card?

Thanks for the quick response. It's a 1 gig card so I thought there should be enough room. My main concern was if I could safely turn off the wii. I googled and and have read somewhere else that it's ok to turn it off so I am going to try it again. Thanks for the quick response, and thanks for the awesome program!

I have installed HBC v1.0.08 installed and it's said that its ok to update Wii with official update. I am trying to use ModMii on my Wii(4.1u) and the guide says not to update through official update. Does ModMii install something that can cause problems when updated?

HBC will survive an official 4.3 update, but u never know when ninty will put out 4.4 update, and who knows what anti-homebrew they have in their next update

also, updating officially to 4.3 will stub your cIOS249 and remove bootmii @ boot2 if installed and if its below v4

performing an official update is pointless when u can just use ModMii to update without stubbing cIOS249 and overwriting bootmii. But if u were to update officially, u can always rehack it. If u still have the HBC after the update, u can do so without needing a disc based exploit.

anyways, the rule of thumb is, if ur wii is softmodded, don't do an official update, u never know what surprises they could have in store for u... and trust me, u don't want to be the first one to report "4.4 update removed all my softmods!"

you realize ModMii's recommendations are the same as my recommendations right?
biggrin.gif

if u update to 4.3, u gain nothing, all it does is remove some older hacks/channels

stay 4.1, and u won't have to install a new system menu (which can be dangerous if u don't have bootmii @ boot2 and u experience a power failure during installation)

basically no matter what u decide, when u complete the modmii guide, ur wii will be fully softmodded on either 4.1 or 4.3, so u can choose w/e u want. But the only reason to be on 4.3 is if for some reason u really really enjoy seeing 4.3 when u go to your wii settings.

edit:
@Ryukouki, I really should, but it would do no good, lol
