Hardware Best storage?

Hello, currently looking to purchase storage for my Wii and was curious as to what is the best option. I am looking to have both Wii & Gamecube games, along with homebrew.
What is the maximum storage and which is preferred, SSD or Hard Drive? And what would run best for speed, performance, etc.

HDD or SSD are your safer & convenient options.
Speeds shouldn't be a problem, as the Wii isn't speed hungry these days.
For max storage I doubt many people go over 4Tb. You did state Wii & GC games only.

For less issues, I have used :
HDD (2Tb) for Wii games.
512/256Gb SD card for GC games.
Currently & successfully using 512Gb micro SD in USB adapter, with the not so popular WBFS format. But you'd be better & safer off with Fat32.
