That's a good plan, but I'm planning on buying more Switch 1 games so that wouldn't suit me.

It's ironic that Nintendo pushed me into buying Switch 1 games and avoid Switch 2 releases.

So just get a switch 1.

Not all games will be getting resolution bumps - so not worth it to lose out on potential exploit later down the line.

Whether you update or not really depends on whether you're willing to risk missing out on an exploit later on to use the system now. The risk is small because Horizon is an incredibly secure operating system but Nintendo may have made mistakes porting it to the Switch 2. I personally choose to wait knowing that I may well be waiting for nothing.

We don't know yet if updates will be signed like iOS or not... if they are we everyone will miss out on the OG day 1 update, which is bound to have some small little bugs.

So ironically I believe leaving 19.0.0 is a bad idea because it isn't a fully featured system unlike 20.1.1 with new features / possible holes.

It’s a tricky one. As if a future exploit is pushed / ran via the microsd card then you MUST install the day 1 patch to activate the SD port. If not, fast forward 2 years and an exploit drops you can’t run…
Tough decision for people with 2 consoles. I guess
No idea why the SD card doesn’t work out the box

What exactly happens if they're signed like iOS? To my understanding Nintendo already signs all their code.

I mean I'm just theorizing in the open.

But if this is the case, much like iOS updates, once Apple no longer signs a particular version of an OS you won't be able to install that version ever again. I could be wrong because there may be HOS updates on cart still, I don't know?

So like apple if they don't sign iOS 17.0.0 anymore, this means you will ONLY be able to ever install 17.0.1 or whatever is the current latest firmware version.

So in time, if an exploit does come to surface in lets say IOS 20.1.1 that isn't in version 19.0.0 (out of the box firmware) because that firmware doesn't enable enough features to potentially exploit on the system as its not fully active, then I personally would say that is more likely than the base firmware in my opinion to have holes... because it has so many new things and it's essentially day one.

So either reports about it working for Switch 1 games on Switch 2 were false, or the Day 1 update broke it.
It might just need a fw update. But honestly its fully possible they patched it from whatever exploit they used?

It's almost certainly going to be an evolving cat & mouse game with the flashcarts. They can emulate older carts but new ones will make changes, they will then need to update the flashcart to emulate the changes. Repeat cycle for a while until Nintendo can apply lawfare and stop the updates.

What is this source of yours? Genuinely curious since if this is true it might actually be the first unhackable console ever made.

Speaking from a purely mathematical perspective, it's impossible for something to be unhackable. All complex systems have flaws. However, it is possible that the equipment, skill, and effort needed are so obscene that it is not practical.

Wouldn’t it be really funny if someone just solder-bridged or jumper-bridged two pins on the Joy-Con 2 connectors & managed to get a similar entry-point as the first one. That’d be hilarious

Your post is spreading misinformation like wildfire. Where is the source? Obviously, that Pirat_Nation is also a dumbass with 380k views.

I don't necessarily see this as a bad thing. The more you say something can't be done, the greater the motivation for some people to do what it seems others cannot.
