so we lost my Sons Pokemon save and all his precious pokethingies
I see on a cfw 3ds there may be some options to build him back up.
Is there a preferred app?
Maybe a tutorial y'all can point me to?

Thanks!

I suck at writing tutorials, so if there is a step you need me to explain, I'll be happy to do it.

  1. Download JKSM and PKHeX.
  2. Install JKSM on your 3ds. (Read the readme.txt in the zip)
  3. Once installed on your 3ds, open it and find your game and export the save. If it's a physical copy, click Cartridge and export save. If it's a digital copy, click SD/CIA and export save.
  4. Turn off your 3ds and plug your sd card into your PC.
  5. In the sd card, navigate to JKSV/Saves/ and find your game. Inside the folder should be a file called main.
  6. Take the main file and open it up with PKHeX. (I would make a backup in case)
  7. Edit what ever you want. If you're editing a Pokemon, I would recommend using the legal check. (PKHeX has a check to see if the Pokemon is legal and would pass off as legit. Your Pokemon is legit if it has a green check mark next to it, the red triangle means it's not legal, click it and edit your Pokemon.)
  8. Save and put the main file back into JKSV/Saves/yourpokemongame and replace the old main file.
  9. Go back into your 3ds and import the save in JKSM

Ok, well from the looks of it that's a fine tutorial... Unless I start doing it and there is a step about sacrificing a goat that you are missing it looks straight forward.

When I launch it and select Pokemon Yellow, a red screen shows up on the bottom screen and it hangs. What am I doing wrong? I also get no cartridge or digital opinion. It just says "target title selector", which can select which games using the left and right buttons on the control pad. Tried selecting Pokemon Yellow or Red and it just hangs with a red screen at the bottom.

Does it look like this?

Edit: Btw, I think PKHeX works only on Generation 6.

No, where can I get that homebrew app? The app I'm using looks like the one you use to install OoT3DHax.

Also, are there any YouTube videos on how to restore the R/B/Y saved data?

The screen looks like this.

Edit: Finally got the right version but whenever I chose "Save data opinions" or "Extra data opinion" it says "Error opening save archive.", while the other says "Error opening ExtData! Title may not use it." What the hell am I doing wrong? I might have the wrong version but the latest one is a ".cia" file. This is so much damn redtape, just to get my R/B/Y saves back! Goddamn you, Nintendo and Game Freak!

I think JKSM isn't working for 11.0? You can try other save editors like JKSMK maybe?

I get "Error opening save archive!".

This is starting to piss me off! All I want is my damn R/B/Y saved data back and I can't. Why does Nintendo have to be like this? At least Sony and Microsoft implement cloud saves.

JKSM works perfectly in my 11.0 A9LH Luma.

My Modest Xerneas that was only a Top 4 IVs, now is a beauty with 0 Atk Top 5 in the rest.

Don't forget to re roll the PID then the Encryption ID.

I do not know about the Encryption ID, but the PID is not necessary, since the 6th gen pokemon PID does not have relationship to pokemon IVs, the IVS RNG calls the Mersene Twister, the PID come from PRNG.
