NOD32, you can keep the subscription active if you know how.

But its lightweight, and most up to date IMO. Also a Multi-platform release (Linux, Mac, Windows, Android).

ESET NOD32 I find it better than MSE at finding and actually deleting the viruses which MSE sometimes struggles to do a lot of times and I noticed on multiple machines it turns itself off with reboots/startups no viruses did this.

Use MSE on customers PCs but ESET when removing and for own personal use.

I'm with the crappy Videotron antivirus at my dad's home, as well as having MSE installed.

But the computer at my mom's house has ESET.
We had Kaspersky before, but it takes so much memory!
The computer seems to run better now that I have ESET, plus I don't have the crappy parental control from Kaspersky PURE that blocked stuff for no reason.

I would say Avast, I've used it on every computer I've ever personally owned. Catches everything at the moment it happens. I've had NO virus related PC failures. If you use it, turn on Gaming mode, will turn off most (Leaves urgent notifications running, like Trojan and Virus found) and all the sounds off, so it basically leaves me alone, it works pretty amazingly for me, since I keep it automatically updated.

Not being made for and not being able to are two very different things.

Wait, there is a "Pirated" version of NOD32? I always thought pirated meant cracked, I always downloaded the official version, and compiled a quick script to grab some serials Daily/Weekly. Is that "Pirating"?

Yeah, but you can also patch NOD32 so that the trail lasts forever.

I have found that a combination of Avast and Threatfire work well together. Never had a virus and I have gone to sketchy sites and downloaded alot of things that can often carry viruses. Microsoft Security Essentials is good too.
