I have a europa and it is a nice phone even with all the custom home page it runs very smoothly, only problem i have with it is the keyboard is a litlle weird to get used to but you do get used to it. Also the ability to root and upgrade to froyo is a bonus. It runs very well with froyo

You can try and return it, or just sell it and get another phone.

Probably not, and your phone is probably simlocked as well.
You can end your contract though ( I don't know about your contract, but the one I'm getting has a 3 month free-to-end period, but I paid for the phone already)

oh well, since im on it already and the fact that my parents got it as my christmas pressent i don't see a point in returuning my phone.

I don't know how it is in Europe but over here in the US you can return your phone and get a new one and only have to pay a $40 restock fee (they have to get another one of the phones that you returned)

Also, I agree with whoever said either the Droid X or Desire Z, I would not recommend any Galaxy S device unless you are willing to screw around with it (rooting, lagfixes, custom ROMs)

Also, anything running 2.2 has native flash support

Wrong not anything that is running on 2.2 has flash support. I know that the LG Vortex has Froyo but doesn't have 2.2. I remember that your processor had to be 1GHz at least. Or a Cortex processor.

anyway, I guess you're right, but as you said all high-end devices on 2.2 and up do have it

As I mentioned before, it depends primarily on the processor. The ARMv6 instruction set most processors below 800 MHz use lacks a few instructions (I believe for floating-point vector calculation in hardware) that are required for stuff like Flash and 3D effects in things like Google Maps. So not every device with Android 2.2 Froyo (not even necessarily every Gingerbread one) will support those features.

I got the HTC Desire HD over Christmas. Battery life is about the same as my old T-Mobile G1 (HTC Dream), which I've kept and rooted and now runs Cyanogen 6.0 (Froyo 2.2). At the time I only compared it to the Samsung Galaxy S and Desire Z. The Galaxy S isn't quite as big, and the Desire Z is even smaller and not as powerful, but has the keyboard. In the end I figured I'd go for the HD because it's big, it's powerful, and it looks better than the Galaxy S.

Really, the best thing I can say about the Desire HD is that it's nice having a big screen for viewing websites/playing games/watching videos on.

It's infamous for having a bad battery life, but it's still easy to tweak the settings and make it have a pretty decent battery life (I use around 40-60% a day with moderate usage, whilst some say it can only do 8 hours of moderate usage). Things like not having it update Facebook/Twitter/etc and 10 email accounts every 5 minutes and not having Skype and MSN up 24/7 and not having the most complicated live wallpaper with a hundred widgets on every page. Sure, I'm exaggerating, but simple things can drain any smartphone battery very easily. It's not like iPhone does any better.

i'm not a fanboy or anything, but iPhone actually does manage battery better, the iPhone 4 has outstanding battery life

A friend of my brother has every Apple device, including iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4. He still has to charge the phone every night, and quite often runs out of power well before then.

The more you do with your phone (especially the more apps that keep updating in the background), the quicker the battery runs out. The iPhone 4 is no exception.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S. It ran a little laggy on the stock firmware but after I re-flashed it with Darky's Rom 8.0 Gingerbread 2.3. It's super quick.

I also have a HD2 with a flashed android NAND running Cyanogen mod Gingerbread 2.3 (newest one, can't remember the version though) and that is ridiculously quick. It eats battery though, weird as when it had WinMo 6.5 I could get a couple days out of it.
