Hello, I am currently 16 years old. I have always had an interest in computer programming, but never really put aside the time to learn anything about programming. It would be much appreciated if someone could direct me where I should start. My intended direction is to develop simple games/apps for Android/Homebrew purposes. like what language should I start with? What platform is easiest to develop for for a beginner like me?

Well, as a starting language, most advanced placement high school courses and colleges use Java. I literally found about a day ago a decent beginning course from Stanford here:

If you like more power, they also appear to have free C++ lectures:

I only glanced at them a bit but they seem to be pretty in depth.

I suggest you start with visual basic or visual C# (if ur confident with the latter)
For Visual basic, you can read any good book and i suggest Sam's Teach Yourself Visual Basic 2010 in 24 days. After that, you can shift to C# using any good programming book.
Problem with going with C# directly is that it might be tough

I have talked about making windows programs and not programs for mobile devices. I think they do cover it though.
