Ugh I'm about to buy basstop d-pad shell but am interested in ExtremeRate if they are significantly more grippy (and they produce a dpad version.) I use joycons while exercising so something with more friction to counteract the sweat would be very welcome. Any thoughts on how the texture of this compares to the Basstop?
I have the chameleon purple/blue joy-cons, which are glossy and cannot comment on the feel of the matte ones, but I
did get a matte red back cover/housing, and it has much more grip than Nintendo's matte when gripped. The joy-cons also came with spare screws and a complete set of springs for the triggers, which was a godsend when I accidentally launched one across the room.
When it comes to quality, the extremerate ones are FAR superior, fitting flush with Nintendo's screw and mounting holes, while the BassTop joy-cons have very large tolerances with their manufacturing. The white BassTop joy-cons are a different color than the BassTop rear housing, but they are shown the same in the advertisement images!!! BassTop's rear housing has cheaply-applied Nintendo-like labeling, while the extremerate housing I received is completely untouched aside from the layer of paint applied. The BassTop Lettering (ABXY) are a thin, uncoated layer of white paint that comes of within a few hours of use; the extremerate letters are etched into the plastic about 0.5mm deep, meaning the labels are not going anywhere.
The only (possible) issue with the extremerate back that I have is that the posts for the rear housing screws are still white plastic, but that is not an issue once completely assembled, since it isn't visible, but I know some OCD people that it would bother to no end.
