Hardware Baseless Nintendo NX speculation thread

Not sure how it would work with three parts...

a dock with hdd bay...
a "processing unit"...
s screen controller that is also standalone...


I think Nintendo did it. They have completely confused the rumormill.

I think I can kinda see what the parts are for, but not how it all goes together.

The docking station obviously simplifies connecting to your tv, but if it has the hard drive built in then your game collection isn't as portable? Do you have to manually transfer the games you want to play to the portable unit, or does it keep slimmed down versions installed? is the game cartridge in the controller or the processing unit? Is it all wireless or wired? Can you bring the processing unit to school and have everyone bring their own controller?

My head hurts...

imagine if this "cartridge" base system is not mentioning any of the games. What if the cartridge is also the guts of the machine? that would be 3 parts. Console, Handheld, SOC. Sounds very unlikely but what if right?....

It's the calm before the storm, its coming. Ninty hasn't posted anything on social media recently. Today will be the announcement, and Thursday will be the Direct. First weekend in October, they go to New York Comic Con in NA, First Look Festival in EU and do a Treehouse in JP.

They are going to FirstLook I mean why go to a event called FirstLook if you got nothing for us to see for the first time. If this doesn't happened the NX is delayed.
 
I doubt it will be delayed when Foxconn is already doing trial production. For all we know Nintendo plans to pull a Sega style "and it's in stores RIGHT NOW" launch.

Although I can assure you that they aren't revealing anything Comic Con

Something i will like to see on NX is some Gamecube VC of some sort. Then i could stop bothering about my Gamecube that needs laser calibration.

Ugh, please no stupid gimmicks. The GamePad was good, but underutilized. The Wii Remote was awesome. Touch screen and dual screens are awesome, too. 3D is shit.

But making another power console is a no-go, too. The power home console market is dominated by Sony and MS, and honestly, another competitor in that environment would be bad for everyone.

IMO, handheld console that can connect to TV, that'd be the best way. They can't compete directly in power, so making a handheld, with all the strengths that come with it, that can connect to TV as to not fully forgo the home console experience (TV play, local multiplayer with a single console). Cheaper than MS's and Sony's offerings, with lots of exclusives, both Nintendo's first parties and third parties they decide to fund, and more.

This way it can be seen as the alternative console of choice, not directly competing with the others, but being a must-have regardless.
