If it's too hard to be sure then whatever, but when it's really obvious shit that looks like all the other slop, and is unpleasant to have to see, let alone know the harm it's doing, could it just be deleted and discouraged please?

Every single case of child abuse is a disaster which should not have been allowed to happen. Polluting the environment while still a serious issue is not on the same level. It can at least be corrected through some rewilding projects. Perhaps you need to accept you're a bit too frustrated now and take a week off. You can check out Snowdonia or the Isle of Skye if you haven't already then post some photos when you're back.

It doesn't matter if we ban the slop, make mods manually delete the posts, or even add AI filters when posting to detect and auto-remove or stop the person from posting, they already made the AI slop so the "environmental damage" you're so concerned about is already done. Even if we did all of that, it's not going to stop 99% of the people from continuing to generate AI slop, they'll simply continue doing it and post it elsewhere, if not do it more to spite people who complain about AI slop. The only thing "wrong" with it at that point, in the scope of this specific community, is you simply don't like seeing it.

And if you don't like seeing it, a simple solution exists: ignore the people who post it.

One issue with ignoring members is while you don't see their post directly, if someone reply's to them with a quote you still know they post. It has you click to expand the post to see what the reply is, but still, it's better completely out of sight, out of mind (don't know if I'm in the minority there - I'm on another forum where it doesn't even do that making it effectively useless entirely). I'd almost use it more if it just hid the posts with quotes entirely, too. Shrugs.

The ban is meant to be proactive, not reactive. If this slop is banned here, people will stop generating slop to post here. True, GBATemp only accounts for a very very small fraction of generated slop, however it's still good to take a stance against it.

The original Will Smith Spaghetti meme is pretty funny, mainly because of how ridiculous it is. Why Will Smith and why spaghetti, I will probably never understand. But I appreciate when AI is just used to make silly things and not to trick you or sell you a product, or as a replacement for real people. I miss a few years ago when that was literally all AI was, just weird/surreal imagery and cursed creatures, any nobody was trying to pass it off as anything more, it was just innocent fun.
