The wiiu plus more. People wanted to play these games but didnt want to buy the console just look, many key wii u titles are being ported to the 3ds just to make some money back.
If they really wanted to play those games, they'd have bought the console. Clearly the games weren't enough to push hardware.

Yes but they saw that there was nothing else on the console why buy a failing console even if the games were good but youd still want to play those games.

That's not how businesses work. They aren't going to invest money into something if it's already been proven to fail. There is no reason to invest money into something when it's already shown to not bring money in.
If customers wanted Wii U support for the Switch, they should have supported the Wii U to begin with.
Well customers didnt support the GC all too well but its still ended up being backwards compatible

If it wasn't enough to sell the Wii U, what makes it enough for Nintendo to significantly raise the cost of the Switch why tying its hands on what it can do with the Switch? That's a losing bet.

I could see remakes of 3DS/WiiU games such as ACNL, Starfox Zero and such but not VC style. Besides, virtual console will exist for older games so it's not gonna be the dreamcast 2.0. Also it doesn't need backwards compatibility. First off put your self in Nintendos shoes, why make it so it can run consoles released in the same decade not so long ago? That would basically be a bad business decision.

Thats why saying im against it but i can understand some peoples point of view.

That's because the Wii used the same architecture as the Gamecube, which made backwards compatibility something relatively simple to achieve. The Switch is completely different architecture and completely different concept and supporting both the architecture and concept would be a large hindrance.

I feel like you've never actually worked in any form of marketing. People talk with their wallets, if they aren't investing, then a company takes it as lack of interest. If there's no interest from the customer, then there is no interest from the company. They aren't going to invest money into something, if they aren't going to get money out of it. If people wanted Wii U support on the Switch, they should have been buying Wii U games in the first place.

Expect in the case of the Wii and GC, they weren't making a massive investment into backwards compatibility. Adding backwards compatibility wasn't a struggle when the systems are using the same architectures.
The Switch and Wii U are completely different systems with completely different architectures. Setting up Wii U games to work on the Switch would be a costly investment. Something that isn't worth it for Nintendo

And I am pointing out your flaws and the flaws of the entire thread.
The thread is under this idea that Nintendo has to do something, when they really shouldn't. Nintendo shouldn't support Wii U games on the Switch because it's not worth it.

I should of pointed out that this was a hypothetical where the Switch could easily be backwards compatible (same architecture/highly powerful) this is where nintendo would be stupid not to have backwards compatability.

If the Switch was simply an upgrade from the Wii U (same architecture and such,) then it would be stupid to not invest in backwards compatibility. But since that's not the case, Nintendo is doing the right thing for their company.

And thats why im agreeing with you silly :P

Backwardscompability is not important at all to me, unless I missed out on the earlier system. I get a new console because I'm fed up with the games on the current system and no new games gets published, I'm not looking to play those games again with rare exceptions. And if I want to I can just play those games on the original hardware.

Nevermind. Read it wrong.

BC is a bad idea. Nintendo has the think of the future.

Nintendo has ditched the PowerPC architecture.
I dont think it is even realistic to suggest there will be any BC.

Not to mention the Switch is CARTRIDGE-based.
WiiU games dont have cartridges.

If you want to play WiiU games ... get a WiiU.
If you want to play Wii games ... get a Wii.

Then it's DOA if there's no BC.
Uh .. No.
You are really off base with even suggesting it.

It would actually be awesome if they allowed the wiiu gamepad to connect to the base station...

That would actually make a lot of sense for (at least) BotW, and possibly other WiiU games they make on available on the eShop in the future. As far as I can tell, the NS does NOT have gyro capabilities, but looks like we will learn a bit more about that in two and a half months.
