I´m trying to install dvdx advance mode but it only have ios with 1 or 2 digids, not 3, and the instalation instructions says I have to install ios248...

Did you install the new Cios before you installed DVDx ? if not uninstall dvdx , install the cios and reinstall dvdx and see if it shows

DVD+RW works with the book type set to DVD-ROM - I thought the Wii couldn't read RW but it can...
Wish I'd known sooner then I wouldn't have such a big collection of DVD+R drink coasters

Well, ive tried with the included WiiBackupPatcher, i tried with extractpartition but got the cannot find root-key error, i found the backup-creator and burnt the partition.iso with a DVD-ROM profile at 2x

and i still get DVD identify error, the backed up game is No More Heroes, any tips or any at all?

Please, i have a ntsc wii and i've downloaded some pal games and i can't run them... when i put force ntsc appears a green screen. Can anyone help me????

This is usually an error with the Disc itself - try a different type of disc and see if it works dvd-r seem to be the most reliable for the wii for some reason.

What games - do they work on the compatibility list ?
Have you patched them ?
Have you installed DVDx in advanced mode ?
How did you burn them ? speed / program / disc type ?

The more info we have the better we are able to answer them.

Sorry quick question, ImgBurn says the patched .iso (tna game) is "Invalid or unsuported file format"

Is this a problem with imgburner or my backup? (fifa worked fine)

Any ideas?

I installed cios using homebrew channel, I don´t know if it installed correctly, i left it downloading something 1/15 and when I came back it was already on homebrew channel menu, then I tryed to install dvdx and I don´t see any 249, only 4, 5, 11, 13, 14, 30, 32, 33, 34, etc. only 2 digids not 3..

How can I check if cios is installed?

You need to go to advance install on DVDX if you installed cIOS rev5.

Hi Guys....new here but been lurking for a long while....

For those who use windows and are having problems with the Backup-Creator:

1) Make a folder on your C drive (called Wiiso or whatever you like, but keep it short and simple, makes it easier)
2) place the Backup-Creator (or exctractpartition) with the common-key/root key in the folder you just created
3) do the same for your ISO
4) click on start->run (or press the windows key and the R key at the same time) and type CMD
5) in the DOS window type C: then hit enter
6) type cd and hit enter
7) type "backup-creator xxx.iso" and hit enter

This should easily take care of the problems some people are experiencing with the software. On a side note if you use the GUI driven patcher it will erase the common-key from the folder (or at least it did it for me) and when you go pack using the command prompt version it won't work.

I used the system above for 30 some "backups" and never failed once.

In the next couple days I'll try to cross reference what I've burned with the wikipedia and add whatever is missing. My config is NTSCU Wii with HD Cables, I've only used DVD-R (printable Verbatim or Sony) and never had a problem as far as disk not being recognized by the Wii. I use imgburn at varying speed (from 2.4 to 16x) and the results don't change. My burner is a Pioneer.

Suggestion from previous experience with consoles try avoiding DVD+R (more PC oriented) or DVD-RW and stick to -R's they are ompatible with most of the DVD's out there may they be just players, consoles or car navigation systems.

Also tried Taiyo Yuden and Ridata and they both work fine.

Yeah, I get dvd identify errors no matter what disc I use. I'am starting to believe this loader doesn't work at all.


edit: NEVERMIND! I forgot to install/use dvdx >.< This should have been working for me since the first dvd I used lol. btw sony dvds and vertiberm work fine.

I´m doing just that to create an iso but it says it can´t find the common key, I downloaded extract partition from the first post and it has a root-key archive and a program who creates key.bin archives, where´s the common key? do I have to rename the archive?

the common key came with the Waninkoko version of the backup loader...and should be in the same folder as the backup-creator.exe

Obtain another copy of the loader and extract it in the folder where you usually do your iso patching...


The only file you have to rename (facoultative) is the partition.iso that the backup-creator creates if you want to keep it for archive reasons.

I used the key.bin created by the generator, I renamed it to "common-key" and it worked

but at the end of the decrypting process I got 4 errors detected:
H0 mismatch
H1 mismatch
H2 mismatch
H3 mismatch

and the new iso is smaller than the original, is that normal?

After error after error, I finally got this thing to work!! I found out that it was my DVD burner the whole time! Man, and I was going to go out and get some different brand DVD's. I am using TDK DVD-Rs by the way. I guess my burner was giving me bad burns.

Anyways burned the ISO on a my new HP computer that has DVD burner and now it works perfectly. Just tried Star Wars Forced Unleased and it works perfectly other than the freezing at the first cutscene.

I just want to thank all the people here that helped me throughout this whole process.

When I use the cIOS installer from psycon's 1st post (v6), I get an error:
"Failed to allocate temp buffer for encrypted content, size was 2047092088"
or something like that.

Then, I tried installing the cIOS from djtaz's signature (v5). Success!
One problem: IOS249 doesn't appear under advanced installation for DVDX.

WHAT AM I DOING WRONG???
