Wierd the PAL Okami works for me good, 1:1 that is, Surely it must either be an old Cios or a media issue what speed do you burn at? 8x seems good!

I was about to post a big nasty message about the state of the wiki (on the weekend it was fine, now when I look at it I see a whole bunch of garbage, tons of missing updates (mine for example), tons of information about legacy loaders that needs to GO (why support 0.1 and 0.3b????? bad idea IMHO).... but I'm wondering if I'm really seeing the correct wiki.

Is there more than one compatibility wiki table thingy with green and salmon colors (and so on)?

Or can anyone tell me if this is correct:
- yesterday the wiki only supported 0.3g and had a great big list that was mostly green that was quite accurate for 0.3g.

- today the wiki supports 0.1, 0.3b, 0.3g and a softchip (WHY???) and it completely wrong and missing a ton of information about 0.3g.

I think maybe I'm looking at two different wikis :-)

bookmarks can be a terrible thing when you're using two different computers in two different cities!

Please could someone confirm that this wiki http://wiki.gbatemp.net/wiki/index.php/Backup_Launcher contains lots of obsolete garbage and can safely be ignored and that there's a better wiki supporting 0.3g only out there on a different url?

Cheers :-)

I just read that I need Waninkoko's Patcher in order to get Wii Music to work with a PAL wii, does anyone know where I can find it and, if possible, could somebody tell me how to use it? (sorry for being a noob)

Thanks in advance! ^^

EDIT: so far all I've got is a black screen after loading it from the Backup (Gamma) Channel, tried all Forces and VIDTV Patch, but nothing, when I use nothing extra, all I get a black screen and a noise (the one usually heard at the Wiimote Strap screen) then. nothing

I see, well ... I'm getting nowhere so far (check my above edited post) and the Wiki said "Works great on PAL Wii patched with waninkokos patcher and nothing forced"

Any ideas on whats gone wrong? (might've been a bad burn, but I'm sure It isn't that, since I get the black screen, but with a noise, and the Gamma channel picks up the disc instantly)

Mihakase>> Chocobo Dungeon, NTSC-J/US + PAL version works fine, since the wiigator 0.1 for me, of course, speed increased, but i have never had any issue with this, even the wi-fi seemed to be working on the 0.1 !! Check cIOS or DVD booktype...whatever the speed, 'should work fine...

Guys, I have a question that was never answered... If I have the cIOS installed, will the Backup Loader still work if I update to the new October 23rd update?
While I'm at it, which cIOS is better to use: Wiigator's or Waninkoko's?

Hmmmm...although I am unsure as to whether the Backup Loader will work after the October 23rd update....if you were to update then I believe you wouldnt be able to install anything new and would therefore be unable to update the CIOS should it be required. It would be best to simply goto this link http://www.wiibrew.org/wiki/Wii_Shop_and_IOS51_installer and install the software found at the download link. This will install the new Shop Channel onto your Wii, along with IOS51 which was included with the October 23rd update, except it will prevent it from applying the patches that stopped new software such as CIOS being installed, and will allow you to trick the Shop Channel into thinking you are up to date.

PLEASE NOTE!!!! The above method will not protect you against the very latest Wii Update! Launched 17/11 or 18/11 depending upon where you are

This update brings the Wii System Menu up to 3.4, deletes all custom channels, and the Twilight Hack and also prevents you from installing the very latest Twilight Hack savefile! If the reports of it doing this are true, then it will break the Backup Loader and any other homebrew you have installed, and make it difficult to re-install your homebrew! Until of course they work out how to get around it

I always get my cIOS from Waninkoko's links, but that's just me, YMMV. I think use his if you want to use Menu Patcher.

Seems to me, using Waninkoko's cIOS with Menu Patcher causes my backups to boot and load during gameplay faster than when using Gamma.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space

  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@rqkaiju2, Physical media is a great source for archiving your data, none of that cloud storage shiz.
