hello. what is currently the best way to backup saved data? I know about saviine, but I don't know what they mean about backing up the saved data before dumping. is that copying the saved data to usb or mlc whichever the game isn't on? I've heard that system config tool can do this? where is that option? and, which is better? also, is it possible to backup saved data using ftpii everywhere assuming I copy it (the saved data) to the mlc minus the game? thanks.

They meant make a backup of your saves before injecting it. Dumping it is fine.
System config tool can dump saves (easiest way imo) but can't inject them.

where's the option in system config tool? that's probably the method I'll use.

okay. I found it. what does it mean to export in .nsb format or .nsi format?

thanks. I used nsi for my first save data backup. I assume there's no way to mass backup saved data like u can when u install games in system config tool? it's just one at a time, yes?

I just read the documentation on system config tool. it says that u can import saves. I saw that option actually. I'm going to run some tests on this tomorrow. I'll try a save that doesn't matter or is innocuous by copying the save file to .nsi, then deleting the save, checking if the save is deleted, and lastly testing the save after importing it. all of my games r on usb, and I'm using redNAND to import/export saves. this should work though based on what I've read. I'll let u know though.

edit: I just checked. I couldn't get saves to inject via system config tool. however, I was able to get them to inject via saviine. they do indeed work. the .nsi/.nsb seem to not affect the save itself. they're related to the meta and what's outside the save data itself if that makes since.

Last edited by godreborn,
does anyone know how to import saved data with system config tool? there's no way to select the saved data. it only shows B - Back when importing. :(
