How are things for the backing up and moving (between different consoles) of save files for CFW users of .cia files?

Namely, how does backing up files work and where are they stores? Can one recover and go back to previous save files?

Also, can saves be moved between two different consoles running the same game?

CIA saves are normally stored on (example) SD--> Nintendo 3DS ---> ID0--> ID1---> title---> 01234567 ---> 89abcdef---> data---> 00000001.sav

where 01234567+89abcdef is the title id of the game/app

but I think that file is encripted with the console key so what you can do is use SaveDataFiler or SVDT ( https://github.com/meladroit/svdt ) You can download it here

It's easy, backup your save and then restore on the other console.

Interesting, I'll check it out.

What about restoring saves on the same SD + console? Is it as easy as copying files to PC and then pasting them right back when needed? Something more than that?
