I get what you mean. While newer modchips allow to do the same without patching the ISO, patching the ISO should work for old mods, alright.
On a sidenote, I sent you a PM regarding a totally different matter ^^
See you,

Let's summarize it all
1. If you did the official update then you don't have trucha in your menu ios (IOS 70), custom discs won't boot
2. Original discs doesn't have autoboot, so it's normal they won't boot, you need to patch for autoboot and burn again.
3. Say if you did indeed burn a game changing it's disc type to diagnostic disc (first byte of the disc is zero) still there is a possibility that it may not boot... We don't know yet throughly what causes 003 error.

I updated with wanikoos safe 4.2 upgrade, I was on 4.0 before. I have autoboot patched mario kart wii, just to test, and autoboot wad manager, but nothing boots?

Ok but I don't think waninkoko's safe updater patches IOS 70 for trucha...(it never did, safe 4.0, safe 4.1) it's not safe in this manner... safe for waninkoko is IOS 249 left intact in your system.

It would be safe if it didn't allow you to install 4.2 by checking the korean key in your system...

So safe is just bullshit if you don't have the knowledge, why on earth did you feel so urged to update a region converted korean wii...

If you purchased that equipment recently than you can return it to where you bought... Even nintendo's update have the same effect on these wiis... I bet that you didn't region converted this wii yourself but just bought already converted... So actually it's not your fault...

Wiicrazy mate use YAOSM its really easy to build as long as your wii drive is a DB or DM

Also if you are on 3.4 firmware i know a great trick with the pinkdisc, you can install saves from another wii ie indpwn or Twilight Hack and install them to the bricked wii
Just use a hexeditor on the iso to change R to 0(30) thay will autoboot then burn

If you have bootmii installed use betwiin to make a new nand.bin from other nand dump of the wii and just install it

But nothing seems to boot with my wiikey2 chip, have autoboot patched some games but nothing loads?

im on 4.2 u with a korean wii!

A number of people seem to have this issue. We know that 4.2 has better region protection. Maybe it screws up the autoboot capability of modchips as well?
