I don't understand what's wrong then. I have no such option. do u have to mount it from the same window as mounting the usb as ux0 or is it a listed partition by default?

The former, with the triangle menu. When USB is mounted I have the option to Refresh LiveArea, mount imc, or unmount USB.

Works 100% for me. The plugin must be loaded before SceShell. It says add the line "after *Kernel." My config has multiple "*Kernel". I added mine directly after the first one in the txt and it works flawless. If all that's correct, maybe there is a random bug that isn't allowing you but I have 3 PSTVs and it works on all 3.
Is the type and size of the hdd an issue?
Im using a WD passport 3.0 500GB.
Maybe that's causing the issue?

Yea it doesn't auto mount the USB on PSTV but it does remove the need to disconnect/reconnect the USB drive so it at least lets you do everything without going over the the system.
Wrong. It does automount the USB. Maybe you installed from the wrong drive? Did you do it while the USB was connected? Here's what worked for me. I posted this in another thread:

Oh, let me tell you what I did just so others don't have to do testing with this. The instructions for this are lacking at the moment.
I had my PSTV unplugged from the USB drive.

1) I transferred the .vpk file to the 1GB system memory via FTP/VitaShell.
2) Still within VitaShell, I installed the .vpk titled "usbmc" (which installs the plugin).
3) It launches a prompt regarding the plugin. It doesn't mention whether you should have your hard drive plugged in at that point, but I went ahead and did it anyway. After plugging in my hard drive, I agreed with the prompt within the app.
4) The app reboots your Vita.
5) I opened VitaShell to double-check that it mounted. And sure enough, it did! Note: I relaunched it one more time and it still worked after the second reboot.

It didn't work at the time of the post, it has since been updated and fixed.
Sweet!! so we're all good now!?
I'm genuinely happy these important tweaks are coming to the homebrew community. It actually does restore some joy into gaming. Can you think of the times where the hassle of mounting and fussing with drives and so forth just discouraged you from playing? I know it has affected my gaming, for sure.
So I hope this continues.
