Alright, a few years back, I bought myself an R4DS, the site that i purchased it from claimed it was legit. shortly after purchasing the card, I found out that the R4 team stopped making R4s

Anyways...
So my R4 works perfectly. It autoboots to the firmware (Currently using Wood), runs Wood, 1.18, and YS menu.
It seems to be working flawlessly, and I've always thought it to be original.

So what I am asking of you all, people of the internetz, is... Is my card real?

TL;DR:Do I have a fake R4?

well there is a thread about how to tell real and fake ones apart
i tried looking for it but i couldnt find it, so if i fid it il reply back

but i think its pretty hard getting a real r4 now since i dont think they make them anymore
i think its the fake r4 company that makes them but im not sure

I tried searching for the thread as well, with no luck.

And when I said I purchased the card years ago, i mean early 07

The $4 1:1 clones work with 1.18/YSMenu/R4Wood as a firmware replacement w/o any problems. With that said you have a real card, I can tell by the #723 stamped on the PIC.

Looks like the real card, and even the first version with spring-loading SD card. Later on they changed it without a spring because the spring broke sometimes. The newer shell has 2 indents at both sides, this one hasn't.

I think all the clones look like the new shell, with indents at the sides. So if you got an R4 with straight left end right sides and spring loading and http://www.r4ds.com on the box you can almost be sure it is the first generation original R4.

take it from a user who still has an R4: that is the real deal

If it is a r4ds.com, then dont give a shit about its being original or not, they both work the same, perfectly !
unless it is an R4i...and shit, you dont have to worry

Well the whole point of asking, was because I wanted to know if it was a legitimate original or a fake/clone. I've already come to the conclusion that it works perfectly. I was trying to see if I was a victim of false advertising, or if I had purchased the real deal.

And honestly, I don't see where the R4i comes into play into this thread. If I'm talking about the R4DS (which I have provided images for).

These days it doesn't matter whether it's fake or not. Enough mud has been slung at R4 that, it has not only stuck, but freeze-dried!
I too bought a couple of them in '07, but I don't give two hoots about aunthencity because they work (although with extreme limitations - 2gb max msd, max 12 themes, cheat.dat size, game compatibility, etc.). Thank goodness for Wood! Wow!! - unlimited themes, DSi enhanced game compatibility, wii connectivity, etc.
