there is only a slot for MicroSD

Point well made. I just pulled mine off the shelf to look closer at it. Sitting unused on 3.0.0 as originally received.

Sure enough I thought the main cart slot was a standard SD card size, but after trying I see it's a tad small, so that's not going to work for a standard SD card.

Found the microSD slot under the stand after a quick google search. Thanks for catching me up to speed.

Unless later somebody can make a custom SD card that works on the cartridge reader or some kind of a cartridge to SD adapter if it even fits there or even a cartridge to micro SD adapter so you can use like 2 cheaper 64GB to make 128GB...

But for that to happen who makes the custom software on the console would also have to add that feature...

That would be viral if it ever happens... I'm still using emunand from gateway on 3ds instead of the newer improved exploits, but I don't care for 3DS...

I like options, I like having the extra Micro SD + SD all used for installing games, I also like gateway cheat menu and the extra backup loader from GW separated from the CIA installed games, it just sucked that Gateway should have done a file explorer and more options and they don't give news for more than a year:whip:.

2 smaller card not exactly cheaper every where. Here when on sale 128GB and 200gb microsdxc cards are better GB per dollar compare to 64gb and 32gb. If somebody looking at adapter via cartridge for Switch, perhaps getting the Switch to support external hard drive should be prioritized? Would anyone back up tens or hundred of game and play them all on the road? External HDD solution for gaming at home is cheaper option

Here the 64GB class A1 usually gets in promotion around half the price it gets even cheaper than a 32GB class A1, the 128GB sadly never seen it on promotions and it's expensive.

I see. However, the problem is for some developers to spend time to make the adapter cartridge and tinkering with software side to redirect the Switch to read from there (plenty of work), yet it's only needed by half the community (even less: well make adapter is costly. Not many want to take risk in damaging their cartridge reader with cheaply made adapter. More expensive adapter defeats the point of slight cheaper micro sdxc), it's truly waste of time.

I remember here in the States I believe beside Greeting shopping season, something like Prime day see 128GB & 200GB micro SDXC went for $30 and $45 before tax.

so with a 128GB card you have exaclty that for games? I mean the 32GB emunand can be used as well, right? of course a few GB are gone due to OS, but over 100GB in total should be enough for a few games, I suppose.

because most here seem to think it is 128GB - 32GB for emunand. but emunand is used for games, too. that's how it worked on the 3DS. 2GB were gone there due to operating system partition. I assume switch OS is not nearly 4GB in size.

If it becomes possible to install games in a way similar to CIA-installation on the 3DS or WUP installation on the Wii U, it might be possible to install some games to that 32GB block for the emuNAND, since games can be installed to the Switch's NAND. That's how the Wii U's emuNAND worked.

However, it is more likely that early backup-loading on the Switch will involve a loader that loads backups on the SD card that cannot be stored on the emuNAND. In other words, there probably won't be any installing of games, at least at first. It will probably be more like Loadiine on the Wii U or USB loading on the Wii.

What happened to the good ol' days of soldering a modchip and then burning a bunch of CDs?

Umm, the switch doesn't have a disc drive.

Doesnt the switch have 32gb of memory? The 25gb is leftover after the OS is installed.... i think.

No if you read somewhere around here it had been starte that the entire nand will need to be copied bit for bit. It's too keep things simple and to be able to install games to the emunand.

Lol the CD was just humorous...

Anyway I hope in the future we could add a 2nd SD with some kind of cartridge to SD adapter because where I live a 128GB A1 SanDisk micro SD cost a lot and still run out of space in a single day...

So I would have to have lots of micro SD and had to continuously backup the emunand and updating all of the cards, that would suck... It was awesome if we had a single M-SD 4 the emunand + game data and having a 2nd SD just for games and that we could keep changing SDs without having to change the emunand SD.

If TX chip brings its own emunand I wouldn't think twice in going with TX and adding M-SD just for games...

As much as I want emunand, I wouldn't want to have like 10 small size SDs and a emunand on each of them and having to constantly updating its data on all micro SDs
