Hmm, I can't get AuReiNand to boot from A9LH. I replaced all the files including the A9LH payload, the rei folder and ReiNand.dat but I just get a black screen. I did copy the firmware.bin file to the rei folder. Going back to normal ReiNand boots my EmuNand as normal, so I'm not sure what's going wrong with AuReiNand

Unless I missed something, ReiNand removed sysNAND mode, and also still needs the splashscreen commented out to work with a9lhax.

Not sure about sysnand on official Rei but I can confirm it works fine with a9lhax to boot into emunand.

Did you copy over the firmware files from firms.zip?

Well, the .dat isn't necessary for A9LH usage (not that that's your problem right now). Are you sure you're using the correct firmware.bin? Aurora's doesn't use the same one as Rei's anymore.

I'm well aware, but the OP specifically asked for sysNAND! It's truly astonishing how it only takes two pages for people to not bother reading!

Ah, in that case no, it's not the correct one. I've just downloaded the archive of firms for AuReiNand and copied the rei-n3ds/firmware.bin to /rei on the SD card, but same result. I also tried copying A9LH/rei-n3ds/firmware90.bin to /rei, same result - black screen on boot. Am I doing something wrong here?

Ok, something's not right here. I've switched to AuReiNand and am now cold booting to SysNand, presumably running ReiNand. I've updated to 10.5, and was expecting to be able to install CIAs as I should be running CFW. But FBI gives me the DESCRIPTION_INVALID_COMMAND error when I try to install anything. Decrypt9 just quits back to HBL when I try to run it. It looks like CFW isn't running for some reason?

Did you check if system settings have rei?

iirc you need to make a file in the rei folder before updating sysNAND or else a9lh is removed on update.

Yeah, it's /rei/updatedsysnand. I have already created it. A9LH is still installed because if I boot with an SD card with no arm9loaderhax.bin it just powers off straight away, which is the test for A9LH installation.

Well that's was a misread from me I haven't been ignoring posts....

Back on topic from the sounds of things I think I'll just stay on emunand for the time being.

You sure it's to do that? Way back when I first done the hack installation and goofed up it didn't power off automatically. Just stayed on a black screen.

It only powered off when I ran the VTP test and pressed a button. Otherwise it looked like a black screen brick. Reason I had this was sysnand only and I wasn't clued up on how payloads for A9LH worked. The point though is my N3DS didn't automatically power off when I had no payload.

If you have a9lh installed and try to boot without an SD card, it stays on a black screen. If you boot with an SD inserted which has no arm9loaderhax.bin then the console powers off about half a second after powering on. This is on New 3DS anyway. I don't know if other models behave differently.

Strange 2 days ago I was certain I still had my SD card in. I'll quickly test that on my 3ds you could be right and I'm remembering wrong.
