Hacking Are VC games region free ?

Hello there,

I wanted to know if :

• I can install a Wii VC game (Resident Evil 4) which is known as USA on my PAL WiiU without modifying anything ?
• Will it brick the RedNand like Wii U games if I give it a try ?
• If it brick, I could restore my rednand backup, couldn't I ?
• So do I need to mess with the region in System Config tool ? How ?

NO Nothing is region free on wiiu but if your using a mod like CBHC 1.1 on boot your console will have sig patches and region free.

installing anything that is for wiiu or Wii vc from the wrong region will not brick the wiiu that was just a false rumour it just won't load you need region free cfw or sign patches to load out of region games.

Some games are Regionfree such as Super Mario 64. This game exists only as USA Version on the eShop.

not technically true all games are region locked but they can be edited to be region free if you know how but it's much easier to just use region free cfw or sign patches.

? what false satement... even if the pal region gets the usa version of the game the installation and VC repak are still pal or usa locked respectably.

both vwii and wiiu menu arent region free, nothing is region free unless you have region free mods/patches.

it wont boot to a black screen atleast not on vwii, i didnt try on wiiu menu, but on vwii if you boot an out of region VC title it will just say the game isnt available in your region and give an error code of sorts.

WiiU Menu -> Boot title -> vWii -> Black screen cuz you can't patch vWii region for now

So first attempt :

1. Boot into RedNand
2. Install RE4 Eshop version USA on PAL WII u
3. Launch without patches
4. Fail -> error

I forgot about vWii not running in RedNAND ... so ok.

This is the correct way :

1. Remove game from RedNAND if exist
2. Maybe Lauch patch system (I don't if remenber correctly)
3. Install game into SysNAND on PAL WII u
4. Launch Patch system
5. Launch Game
6. ????
7. Profit

If you try to launch it without the patch system it won't allow you to go further with an error message.
