The AR cards are amazing bits of kit, i tried the block one and the shooting Mini game was pretty fucn actually, i could see games coming with AR cards in the future to feature little side games and such...could you imagine a resi one where 3D zombies are coming at you in your own world???!!! that would ROCK!!

Or they could just include mini games in the fucking game or make a compilation of mini games on a cart instead of making you buy/carry around a ridiculous set of carts.

I'm just completely opposed to the AR functions here. If it was something interesting like importing things in your life to the real world then I'd be interested. I remember way back when, when the Kinect was still Project Natal, there was talk about users being able to import something like, say, their guitar or their skateboard so they could use it in a music or skateboarding game respectively. If they did that then it'd be a nice function and I'd praise it. But at the moment it seems like they're marketing it off as a cheap gimmick or something that'll make require you to buy a bunch of useless crap to use.

Like every device nowadays comes with a bunch of functions but most of them you just completely forget about. I have a feeling this will be one of those forgotten functions.

Don't bring that up! I'm still trying to get over it (it was my favorite feature)

The AR cards are just activators for the AR games. The games themselves are stored in the 3ds' nano.

Hidden in the cards are bar/QA codes. These hidden codes are printed with special ink so you just can't copy the cards with a photocopier.

if there is going to be sixteen AR cards and they are only included with certain games someone is going to post them and people are just going to download and print them on card all you will need is the dimensions to tell the printer.

Update i forgot about the barcode issue.

Well if we cannot print them , they will be sold in ebay within hours of them being avail.

How you going to possibly do that with a 3DS? Anything to be able to use to put in your life to the real world (your life is the real world...) has to be small enough to
capture the image? Well it could do that with those skateboard toys.

There's 6.
They come with the system.
You wouldn't need to set dimensions.
There's no barcode.

did someone mention yet that the cards are useless untill you have the piece of software that contains the data to be rendered?

The cards themselves hold no infomation, and for all that matters they could have used a barcode with identifiers for geospartial orientation.

it's neat nontheless, i can't wait to try it out myself.

That was obvious, so went without saying.
