Hacking Applying Cheats to .sav files

Hey all,

I bought a retail copy of DQIX, and am loving it so far. I'd love it a little more if the framerate didn't drop due to an excessive number of characters on screen, however. I know there is a cheat out there that removes your party from view outside of battle, and I want to apply that to the save on my cartridge.

I know I can extract the save file somehow, but can I apply a cheat to it? Just wanted to know if any of you have expertise in this area.

In short, here's what I want to do:

1. Extract save.

2. Apply cheat using my Acekard

3. Have that cheat stick on my save file

4. Place the save back onto my retail cart

Don't know if this is possible, but I'd appreciate any insight. Thanks!

Cheats like that can't stick. I would recommend just keeping the save in your Acekard and keeping the cheat activated, but there is an AP-check that I discovered late into the game. AKAIO doesn't disable it yet.
