So, I was reading my wii u games manuals to see if they support surround sound, but then, I opened the Disney Epic Mickey 2 manual, and saw this:

So, apparently, this game has Dolby Digital, but the Wii U didn't only work with LPCM? Or is this a hidden feature of the Wii U?

I mean, in the settings they only mension LPCM

If you know anything about this, please tell me more, I didn't know anything about this.

Your question is answered in the Nintendo support site

https://en-americas-support.nintend...1508/~/how-to-use-surround-sound-on-the-wii-u

It doesn't say anything about Dolby Digital, it only says about Dolby Pro Logic II, that only works on vWii, other than that, nothing, it only says that the Wii U uses LPCM of 6 channels.

It's possible it's a generic manual that they used on other systems that do support it, it just wasn't removed.

Technically, the Wii U can support any audio format, as long as the developer included a software decoder in the game's code. It's unlikely Nintendo would pay the fees associated with AC3, though. AFAIK most Wii U games still use ADPCM, as do most 3DS games, since Nintendo doesn't have to pay anybody for that.
