Hacking Anyway to run Gateway?

So, Ive been out of the 3ds scene for a few years so please bear with me as I dont have a clue as to the current scenario.
I accidentally updated my 3DS to the firmware version 11.6.0 after which my gateway stopped working. Is there anyway to downgrade my 3ds to make gateway work or any homebrew method to make it work? I just want to play some old games.
Any help will be appreciated!

PS The gateway had bragged about a "big" update. I dont think it came, did it? XD
