So a few weeks ago I picked up Owlboy from GOG. I'm about half-way through the game and think the game does what it sets out to do but I don't find it all that fun.
There aren't many things I can critisise about the game. While I'm not a fan of pixel art used in games released in the post-SNES era Owlboy certainly looks nice and the music is great, really contributing to the environment. The story isn't the focus of the game but is well-done.
The gameplay is a unique concept that I haven't encountered before. It's good to see a developer taking risks. The world would be a sad place without Steamworld Heist. The problem is that I just don't find this gameplay enjoyable. And there are some cheap deaths. Though to be fair, if I enjoyed the game more I'd be paying more attention and dying less.
Given what I've read online the people who don't like this game are in a minority.
