...that Nintendo will either abandon HorizonOS and try a new OS (unlikely) or redesign it for Switch 2?

The HOME menu on the first Switch was bland because the hardware was weak and a more lively menu would slow down boot and lower performance, but I hope that with the newer and updated hardware, it'll be a lot more customizable and maybe even have soul.

That was why it took 1-2 minutes to boot, obviously Nintendo wanted to change that with the Switch.

But now the UI can be cool AND it can keep the Switch's boot time.

The 3DS didn't take 1-2 minutes to boot. Also, you're forgetting that with the 3DS, you always started it from a completely powered off state, and not just a sleep state like the Switch, so of course it's gonna be slightly slower

Oof, maybe you're right tbh. Now I have less hope for an actually cool UI, but there will still be the games to keep me entertained.
