Homebrew Anyone else have problems with savestates?

Okay, so I save the state in a state slot like 0 or whatever. But when I try to load said state the game freezes and scrambles and I have to go back to the choose ROM screen.
EDIT: Pretty much the same problem with SNEmulDS as well.
Anyone know what's wrong or how to fix it?
Help is greatly appreciated.
