Apple any way to prevent this?

yesterday my uncle updated his iphone to 4.1 after it was already jailbroken and all of his cracked apps no longer boot up... they just send the phone back to its springboard while all of his purchased apps still work why is this so?

It just could be two issues:
- Either you didn't jailbreak it again with a new jailbreak after updating to 4.1 (like Limera1n for example)
- or you did jailbreak it but you didn't download the latest Appsync for 4.1

You probably need to jailbreak it again since it was updated.
