Hacking Any point in installing Custom IOS with A Modchip?

just wondering is there any need to install waninkokos rev 4 custom ios ?

obviously i have a modded wii, just dont understand if the ios is needed for anything? i mean patchmi normal install works with libdi if u wanted to play a dvd which to be honest i wouldn't dare, u dont get data dvd player/recorders for nothing.

i mean i already have the patchmi and libdi installed to play a dvd, which i wont, but anyway.
just wanting to know if i should install it? please help
why would it benefit the wii?
what exactly requires this install?
