Hello everyone!

I would really like to create some chiptunes music. Like with Game Boy, NES, Megadrive, PC- Engine or C64 sounds. Was there ever any chipmusic tracker ported to the 3DS?

The last portable chiptracker was lsdj and fatass tracker for GB and GBC. They feel a bit old now.

Anyone know anything about this?

Cool guys. Thanx for the replies. I have done a lot in the Korg synthesizers. They are great! But not really what Im looking for.

@froggestspirit Is Chipsune fully workable? With saving and everything? Then that is exiting!

Perhaps someone could port Piggy Tracker to the 3DS. It is a portable tracker and has a version for psp, dingoo gp2x etc. A port for the 3DS would be perfect!

Even though it doesn't seem to be open-source, the binary is pretty small, it uses SDL, it was compiled as 32bit for the raspi, and it's ARM, AND IT HAS ALL THE DEBUGGING SYMBOLS xD so I'll look into reverse engineering the core of it and I'll see what I can do.

Edit: nevermind, it's heavy Linux code, and it's also C++, so it's a living hell to try to reverse engineer it :/

Thanx for looking into it @MarcusD

Would it be possible to port the best NES tracker, Famitracker -

I have promised 200 Euro if someone ports a full version and proper version of Famitracker. The offer is still available! :)

That what you made on the screenshot is already possible with 3DSControllerPlus, but it requires a PC

As for famitracker, thanks for making me remember the name of the tracker which has a build which can load NES music files xD

Edit: oh wow, Famitracker's code is really neat, it doesn't seem to require high amounts of cancer installed, and it seems like other than the GUI code it's very portable too! On first glance seems totally doable, but I'd have to rewrite the GUI from scratch.

SmileBASIC is in the Nintendo eShop for $9.99. It can program full applications including games as good as any commercial releases. It has built in chip tune programming and one of the demos is a tracker. There is also a SmileBASIC development kit available in Steam for PC. If you want chiptunes in your 3DS this is the best way to go.
