Last time I prayed to god (it was just in my internal thoughts but still counts) was when I had a fever of 40 degrees.

I remember it because it was the christmas I got my Nintendo Wii and I couldn't play it with my family x_x

As i stated in the Santa Claus thread while I don't believe in any man made religion I think life has to have been created by something, it's just we don't know who God is. Maybe whoever created us is dead. They sure don't stop anything bad from happening like covid, 9/11 etc...... these ideas that there's miracles through prayer I've never had it happen to me.

humans at the end of the day are not much different from sims for instance

we are just complex algorithms or computer programs that happen to run on biological machines rather than metal ones

to him our suffering is just as real as a sim's suffering - that is - simply responding to the stimuli we are given in a predefined way

when you look at it that way, and realize to a god we are basically no more interesting or important than a rock, a stream, a sim

it makes sense why he is "blind" to our suffering - in the same way you and I eat beef and keep cows in horrible conditions to do so

our human centric world view makes us think we have an uncaring god, but it's probably more fair to say he just doesn't find what we think so important to be important at all

after all - when is the last time you got upset that you saw a dead rat or squirrel? it's nature right? God probably feels the same when we die - nature taking its course

Yeah I mean there's endless possiiblities, it could be just like you said or just like I said for all we know maybe the God who created us lived in a world where there's 8 billion gods who all created planets. I believe God is just unknowable we can guess we can speculate but we can't prove anything.

I always think about what I would do if I could time travel; at first I used to say that I wanted to go and prove or disprove the existence of God. I lost faith when my dad passed away, Catholic household going generations back. To be honest I never had faith like he did; I question everything and have a hard time believing many aspects. I used to go to church not believing but participating but as I get older, I feel like I try to rationalize things and even to this day, I am not even sure that even a quarter of the things in the scriptures are true or not.

I showed this from the Old Testament in the Santa Claus thread. It was the one verse although there were others but this was the first one that made me say "nope, that's bullshit God didn't tell anyone to write that."

28 If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her and they are discovered, 29 he shall pay her father fifty shekels[a] of silver. He must marry the young woman, for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives.

There also are verses about going to war with your enemies and take them as slaves and God will back you. Who are they talking to and about exactly? Different people can have different enemies. It just makes no fucking sense what so ever.

I guess that answers the question in this image

I was raised in an atheist family, but recently I found a portable New Testament in the trash and started reading it. Maybe I should check out the actual church as well.

There are so many churches out there, you have a lot of options

I am partial to the Orthodox

You can go to the yay Jesus bible thumpers if you wish

It's pretty much impossible to not live close to a Catholic church here, so I'd know exactly where to go, and being near one is just daily life. I simply never went inside.

People used to worship the Sun. I'm not even sure that was ever disproven. Leave it some other writers who had a portal to God to get rid of that. Why do those assholes have a portal to God and not me? They just wrote a book and that's all it took. May as well worship Harry Potter 2000 years from now there's no more or less evidence than Jesus.

But maybe the sunworshippers were wrong too. Look do you think your dog or cat worries about who created them and do they pray to them? I do not believe we are required to know God anymore than that are. You can think you have all the answers and be wrong about it.

But I don't mean to only pick on Christianity, i do not believe in Judaism islam Buddahism, you name the religion and i don't believe in it.
