I haven't followed the scene for a long time now. I have a wii u with hakchi installed and I rarely uses my wii u but still want to play it from time to time.
I find myself needing hakchi most of the time. So was thinking about installing CHBC but I still have some questions:
  1. are there new safer alternatives to CHBC now?
  2. read somewhere the DS exploited game can become corrupted? if that happens, the wii u is bricked? is there a solution for that kind of scenario?
  3. how much protection does parental controls provide?
  4. not related to CHBC, can I run wii subsystem when in hakchi?

1. no
2. never heard of that, doesn't seems likely (except maybe some weird user error), solution: dont use cbhc, keep haxchi instead
3. ?
4. yes

3. Read parental controls prevent accidental deletion of games(ds title used for hakchi). Does it also prevent formatting the wii u?

1. Nope, not yet
2. If you don't mess with system files you should be pretty safe
3. Parental controls should be pretty safe. It will prevent deleting the game and formatting the console. I'm not sure if it prevents moving the game to a USB though.
4. Yeah the vWii behaves the same as before

what do you mean mess up with the system files? how do you mess up with them? by installing/running homebrew apps?

what he means is don't mess with things if you don't know what you're doing. it's very unlikely the game will become corrupt. if it does, something bigger is probably wrong with the system. I'm not going to say it's impossible for that to happen, just unlikely. I've been using cbhc for 3+ years, and I've never had something like that happen. and, I play my wii u daily.

but if the ds title does get corrupted... you are fcked or you will still be able to unbrick it? (without soldering and hardware modding)

you'd be fucked if that happened. I'm playing the wii u right now actually, and I've probably spent thousands of hours with the system, and I've never had any game corrupt on me.

I was using yoshi's island as my cbhc game, but then I switched to brain age. it can be uninstalled at any time with the installer in case you don't like it. deleting the title is now impossible I believe, so you only have formatting and deleting the nnid that bought the haxchi game as being the only ways to brick. the game becoming corrupted is not likely.

Only if you have cbhc. The regular haxchi can't brick your console. I mean, it can yes, but you don't get the error message 160-0103 like on cbhc.

not likely. even if the game was corrupted and you had a bad ticket, it shouldn't brick the system. the only part that's messed with is the rom.zip with haxchi.

Only if chbc is installed...still not sure I wanna install chbc. Lol
I have it installed. Sig patches after powering on the console is nice.
